Description

The Australian Sports Commission is embarking on the Green and Gold decade. An exciting time filled with international sporting competitions on home soil, including the Men’s and Women’s Rugby World Cup, and culminating in the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. We have an ambitious new Strategic Vision and we need the best players on our team to help us deliver real results for the sporting sector and all Australians.

Are you up for the challenge?

About the team – The Architecture, Infrastructure and Networking Branch consists of three teams:

  • The architecture team focuses on designing and planning the overall structure of ASC’s IT systems.
  • The infrastructure team manages the underlying hardware, software, and services that support ASC’s IT operations.
  • The networking team focuses specifically on network-related tasks.

While each team has specific responsibilities, the teams collaborate closely, as their work is interconnected. Effective communication and alignment are essential for a well-functioning IT ecosystem that enables effective sustainment across the organisation.

About the role – The Director, Architecture, Infrastructure and Networking is responsible for leading a team of professionals to develop and sustain the ASC’s architecture, infrastructure and networking ecosystem, and manage development and direction of technology strategies to align with organisational strategies.

You will be responsible for directing and managing efforts of the Architecture, Infrastructure and Networking teams to deliver effective ICT solutions aligned to technology strategies. You will build constructive relationships, be a steward of order and discipline, outcome focused, a supportive leader, and conduct meaningful engagements with internal and external stakeholders to position the ASC as a digital exemplar.

As part of the Technology Group’s leadership team, you will contribute and facilitate high level strategic advice and direction across Architecture, Infrastructure and Networking to assist the Group in successfully achieving its delivery commitments.

About you – Our ideal candidate is an experienced leader with a structured and methodical approach and an ability to focus the teams to achieve the goals of the Technology Group. You will need to understand the benefits of enterprise architecture, compliance to standards, monitoring and logging, and quality practices such as ITIL to align ICT services efficiently and effectively with the needs of business.

The role will suit a candidate who is passionate about making a difference in a small agency, is pragmatic and takes a risk-based approach to drive service value for internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will have:

  • Degree or higher qualification/s or demonstrated senior level experience delivering and leading Information Technology services in a high demand Government service environment.
  • A minimum of 5 years proven experience managing high performance teams, with demonstrable experience with motivating and developing successful technical teams.
  • Working understanding of ITIL service practices or similar risk mitigation practices applied across service lifecycle to drive service value for customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate dynamically and persuasively in both written and face-to-face communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify improvements, seek plan approval and drive work that delivers timely outcomes in a service performance context.

This position is offered as an ONGOING position.
