The position of State Participation Manager is a key leadership role within the New South Wales Touch Football Association. Reporting to the General Manager, the role is responsibile for the growth of participation, development of our volunteer network through education adnd resource and the implementation of the commercial competition strategy. The position will lead the Participation Team to grow the sport. The role is key for leading the delivery of development and education programs for playing, coaching, refereeing and selecting throughout the state. The role also provides professional program coordination, management, and support for NSWTA Affiliated Associations. The role is key in leading the smooth delivery and best practive for these Associations and all Stakeholders.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualification
  • sporting industry experience
  • experience in managing staff
  • experience in strategy, planning and performance
  • driver’s license

Desirable Criteria

  • experience in program development and project, people and budgetary management
  • high level leadership skills
  • coaching experience
  • proven ability to effectively operate within a team environment to achieve project outcomes
  • sound administration background with computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • experience in education/accreditation delivery or training
  • communication skills to network and build effective relationships with all stakeholders
  • excellent organisational and administrative skills
  • demonstrated ability to negotiate, consult and advise on aspects of operations within a sport related sphere
  • demonstrated ability to plan and manage projects within budget and time constraints
  • demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate volunteers

Touch Football has over 400,000 registered members and an additional 500,000 children participating in school programs and related activities, which places the sport among the top participant based, organised sports in Australia.

New South Wales Touch Football (NSWTA) is the official body for the sport and it is the role of the organisation to develop and grow the sport of Touch Football in this New South Wales.

The first formalized Touch Football competition was South Sydney Touch Association in 1968. Touch Football continued to grow and during the 70`s it took hold in the country areas. The first country competition was Wagga Wagga Touch Association in 1973 with the first women’s competition officially starting in Ballina in 1975.

The New South Wales Touch Association was constituted in 1972 and at that point, there were six competitions and approximately 1500 players.

As at 2019 the number of registered players across New South Wales has reached over 110000 and over 150 affiliated competitions.
