Description

  • Gold medal winning Olympic and Paralympic sport
  • Draft and execute the strategic pathway plan
  • Contract position (8-10 months with opportunity to extend)
  • Sydney based (North Shore)

Sailing is one of Australia’s favourite pastimes and a leading high performance sport. Australia has a decorated history in Olympic and Paralympic sailing, and the Australian Sailing Team also competes in the Class World Championships and other major sailing regattas.

The Australian Sailing (AS) High Performance (HP) program is supported by the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS), the National Institute Network (NIN) and national peak sporting bodies. With three new sailing classes to be added to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, this is an exciting time to be part of the future structure of Australian Sailing.

Reporting to the CEO, the High Performance Network Lead will be responsible for building strong relationships with key network stakeholders in the delivery of AS HP objectives. The role will draft and execute the strategic pathway plan including the integration of new classes competing in Paris 2024 in collaboration with the Australian Sailing Team HP Strategy. In addition, the role will support the implementation of the athlete wellbeing strategy.

To be considered for this role you will need to be a strong, effective collaborator, managing a variety of stakeholder relationships, with the ability to establish a vision, provide direction and inspire followership. With the ability to think both strategically and systematically, you will need to demonstrate a successful track record in the development and management of HP strategy, budgets and resources.

The successful candidate will have experience working in Australian high performance sport with an excellent understanding of the role of the National Institute Network, Games Delivery Partners and National Sporting Organisations. A comprehensive understanding of coaching, sport science and medicine, technology, international competition and talent pathways and their integration both in training and competition environments is also required.

A background in sailing or similar complex multidisciplinary sport would be highly regarded but not essential.

This is a unique opportunity to help develop an exciting culture and structure that drives medal winning aspirations in one of Australia’s leading Olympic and Paralympic sports.
