About the Centres

The YMCA in partnership with Greater Dandenong City Council are working together to deliver the vision for the community.

Dandenong Oasis – Indoor Swimming Pool, and Gym facilities located in Mills Reserve, Dandenong.  The centre provides a 50-metre pool, hydrotherapy pool, spa sauna, toddler pool, fun pool, gym, squash courts, group fitness rooms, childcare, and café.

Noble Park Aquatic Centre – A quality multi-purpose aquatic, recreation, and community centre which opened in February 2012.  Located at Ross Reserve Noble Park the centre provides swimming lessons and events that cater to the local community.  It features a 51.5 metre heated outdoor pool, water slide, indoor leisure pool, splash park area and a café.

Key Elements of the Role

This position requires you to work as part of a team committed to the goals and mission that actively fosters community participation and involvement.

It is an expectation that the successful applicant will work hard at forming relationships with current and potential school groups, as well as with all teaching staff and management.

The Schools Program Leader will be required to have complete knowledge and understanding of all aspects of YMCA Swimming Lessons and water safety, and provide leadership and direction to Swimming Teachers and Schools staff encouraging an excellent team-first culture.

Duties involve, but not limited to:

  • Promotion and growth of Schools programs, Carnivals, and Aquatic Adventures with imaginative and lateral thinking
  • Taking bookings and liaise with schools to ensure excellent communication levels
  • Liaising with operations team to ensure GSPO's and centre supervision guidelines are met for all groups
  • Managing feedback from schools during and after the program or carnival with an expectation to make changes to the program as required
  • Identifying opportunities to cross-promote other services in the centre with our school's participants
  • Provide leadership and direction to Swimming Teachers
  • Assist with recruitment, training, and inductions for staff
  • Take appropriate action to correct unsatisfactory staff performance and take disciplinary action where necessary with support from the Aquatics Coordinator
  • Rostering

Qualifications

YMCA, including Boards of Directors, is committed to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding Children and Young People framework. YMCA requires that all applicants undergo satisfactory screening prior to commencement, including but not limited to:

  • A national criminal history check;
  • An international criminal history check where applicants have worked overseas;
  • Holding or obtaining a Working with Children Clearance/ equivalent in accordance with state/ territory laws;
  • ACF Safeguarding Children and Young People Certificate (completion online prior to commencement)
  • Two reference checks.

Any successfully appointed applicant will be required to adhere to the Safeguarding Children and Young People framework, which includes a thorough safeguarding children and young people induction and committing to upholding the safety and wellbeing of children and young people throughout their engagement with YMCA.
