This key leadership role, has the responsibility to deliver on Football Federation Australia’s (FFA) objectives under the National Teams and Elite Player Development program and to successfully plan and manage activities of all National Football teams. This includes the efficient and effective operation of FFA’s senior and junior men’s and women’s national teams and the administration of the succession plan for players and coaches in cooperation with the development of the national player pathway.  

Reporting to the FFA CEO & Technical Director, the role will primarily focus on : 

  • Manage and drive the delivery of the National Teams program. This includes the efficient and effective operation of FFA’s senior and junior teams, the design and organisation of the match program and to ensure a robust program of international competition across all National Teams and qualification for major tournaments.
  • Develop a robust business plan in co-operation with the head of international relations, GM of Government Relations and international MA’s to increase International Activity
  • Esure a succession plan is in place to establish a National Model which can withstand the departure of key personnel allowing for the continuation of best practice and accumulation of IP
  • Collaborate with the Technical Director, Head Coaches and Team Managers in establishing the ‘pillars’ of Football, Medical, Sports Science, Player Tracking and Monitoring to ensure teams can fulfil their potential 
  • Drive and lead a cultural transformation program that positions the Australian National Teams as leaders on the world stage.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Possess a proven track record in driving high performance within sport and professional football
  • Experience in sports administration including strategy development and fiscal, budgetary accountability
  • Holds relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, Sport Administration or equivalent (desirable)
  • A proven self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit and ability to innovate as well as experience with strategic prospecting new business at an Executive level
  • A proven ability to develop strong mutually trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • A demonstrable understanding of the sports entertainment industry and related industries including broadcast and digital media.
  • Has a close eye for detail and experience in managing people, budgets and programs within a regulated, planned and time critical operating environment.
  • Demonstrates an ability to be politically savvy and understands how to get things done and embrace politics to deliver strategies and move teams / important initiatives forward.
  • Has a proven ability in complex stakeholder management.
  • Ability to think through problems and achieve effective solutions; innovative and constantly seeking better ways of doing things.
  • Effective knowledge of IT and communication systems and platforms.
  • Experience of major international Tournaments & detailed tour planning experience.
  • Ability to manage teams with firmness yet harmoniously
  • Ability to work with coaches and players to achieve objectives successfully
  • Inspirational and motivational individual to assist with creating a motivated and happy team environment
  • Demonstrates advanced presentation, negotiation, influencing and relationship management skills.
  • Strong network of contacts and relationships across multiple industry sectors.
