About the Centre
Hawthorn Aquatic and Leisure Centre is part of the 4 facility contract for City of Boroondara and boasts an impressive membership, leading edge programing and recently redeveloped (2014) facility.
Daycare, cafe, swim school, instructor led group fitness, 50M pool, Warm water pool, massive gym and plenty more.
Key Elements of the Role
The Centre Coordinator will be highly visible within the centre, overseeing team activity and operations to ensure services meet the needs of our organisation, our customer and the community.
The Centre Coordinator role is a member of the middle management group and a leader within the Centre. This role is part of the YMCA development pipeline of future leaders and is a brilliant pathway to Centre Management.
By delivering a high performing portfolio of responsibility, the Centre Coordinator has effective control of some of the day to day activity within the Centre – working side by side with the Centre Manager in a joint leadership role..
Depending on organisational needs, duties will include leading a team (for example, Life Guards and Duty Managers), daily centre operations, compliance and auditing, scheduled works and training.

Qualifications
- First Aid Level 2
- CPR Certificate
- Relevant Tertiary Qualification or equivalent workplace experience desirable
- Pool Lifeguard Certificate
YMCA, including Boards of Directors, is committed to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding Children and Young People framework. YMCA requires that all applicants undergo satisfactory screening prior to commencement, including but not limited to:
- A national criminal history check;
- An international criminal history check where applicants have worked overseas;
- Holding or obtaining a Working with Children Clearance/ equivalent in accordance with state/ territory laws;
- ACF Safeguarding Children and Young People Certificate (completion online prior to commencement)
- Two reference checks.
