About the Centre

The Boroondara Sports Complex YMCA has recently undergone an extensive, multi-million dollar redevelopment (2016). It is an important community facility and is just one of the four leisure and aquatic facilities that make up the Boroondara Leisure and Aquatic Facilities (BLAF).

The centre is home to our brand new start-of-the-art health club, gymnastics facility and 5 court indoor stadium as well as stunning outdoor aquatic facilities, a childcare, group fitness and café.

Key Elements of the Role

Gymnastics Coaches are an essential component in the delivery of the Balwyn Gymnastics programs. These positions require energetic and motivated individuals who are people-focused and committed to delivering gymnastics.

Coaches are supported in delivering our program through pre-set lesson plans which develop the participant skills, progressing them through the gymnastics program. Balwyn Gymnastics is currently seeking prospective coaches as well as established and fully qualified coaches.

• Creates a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere by engaging all people in a friendly and approachable manner.
• Works as part of a team and shows professionalism and respect.
• Punctual in attendance on shift as well as in attendance at staff meetings and training.
• Flexible to work mornings, afternoons and evenings in an effort to share workload.
• Is a role model who, demonstrates, and teaches positive values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Qualifications

• Intermediate Level Coaching Accreditation with Gymnastics Australia
• Working with Children Check
• Level 2 First Aid
• CPR

YMCA, including Boards of Directors, is committed to the safety and wellbeing of children and young people in accordance with our Safeguarding Children and Young People framework. YMCA requires that all applicants undergo satisfactory screening prior to commencement, including but not limited to:

• A national criminal history check;
• An international criminal history check where applicants have worked overseas;
• Holding or obtaining a Working with Children Clearance/ equivalent in accordance with state/ territory laws;
• ACF Safeguarding Children and Young People Certificate (completion online prior to commencement)
• Two reference checks.

Any successfully appointed applicant will be required to adhere to the Safeguarding Children and Young People framework, which includes a thorough safeguarding children and young people induction and committing to upholding the safety and wellbeing of children and young people throughout their engagement with YMCA.
