Description

It is an exciting time for tennis in Australia and we have ambitious plans to continue to grow the game from grassroots through to high performance. To do this we are transforming how we deliver tennis, with the aim of offering more opportunities for more players and a greater role for personal coaches in identifying and developing Australia’s future talent.  We are now looking for a National Tennis Academy Manger to join the team and help us deliver on these plans.  
 
Based in Brisbane and reporting to the National Tennis Academy Head Coach, you will be responsible for the overall management of the National Tennis Academy operations.  You will work closely with the National Tennis Academy Head Coach to facilitate the communication, integration and support of National Tennis Academy players, coaches, staff and relevant external stakeholders. Critical to success in this role, you will assist with operationalising the holistic development of National Tennis Academy players both within the Academy and abroad. Additionally, you will support the National Tennis Academy Head Coach in identifying and transitioning talented players into the National Tennis Academy and out onto the professional tour.

In this role you will: 

  • Manage the day to day operations of a world class tennis program
  • Set individual athlete benchmarks in consultation with coaching staff
  • Maintain standards of professionalism and excellence reflecting a high performance culture
  • Support the integration of state players into the National Tennis Academy and transition out onto the professional tour
  • Assist in organising National Tennis Academy training camps
  • Manage the National Tennis Academy budget
  • Manage athlete agreements and relevant upkeep of Athlete Management System (AMS)
  • Assist in the establishment and continuous management of overseas training bases
  • Work closely with the Athlete Services team to ensure athletes are provided best practice holistic support

 What you will bring to this role:

  • Coaching qualification - High Performance (preferred)
  • Tertiary qualification in Business, Sport Science, Sports Management or Physical Education (preferred)
  • Past playing experience at the elite international level (preferred)
  • Proven ability to develop and implement a high performance tennis program
  • Extensive experience coaching tennis at a high performance or international level
  • Proven knowledge of technique and on-court decision making strategies
  • Excellent communication skills, including public speaking experience
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and work in a challenging and changing environment
  • Flexibility regarding work schedules and training hours
  • Alignment with the Tennis values of Excellence, Humility, Collaboration and Imagination
  • You must hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check.
