QUT Sport has created an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated sports administrator with a passion for health and wellbeing, customer service, events and enriching the experience of all students. The Recreational Sport Officer will be responsible for administering health and wellbeing initiatives for all students, staff and the broader QUT community.  The role provides administrative support and coordination in all aspects of QUT Sport’s key initiatives which includes but not limited to Football, Netball, Aquatics and Pop Up health and wellbeing activities, with a core focus on removing the barriers to participation for student cohorts who have limited opportunities to play sport and participate in activities that support health and wellbeing.

The Recreational Sport Officer will work closely with the QUT Student and Engagement and Sport team to deliver a range of initiatives to support and enhance the personal, social and sporting development of the QUT community.

This position reports to the Sport Programs and Teams Coordinator for supervision, workload management and for Performance Planning and Review (PPR).

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Provide timely and accurate information and exceptional customer service to students, staff and other stakeholders;
  2. Under the direction of the Sport Programs and Teams Coordinator, liaise with internal and external stakeholders as required;
  3. Provide administrative and digital content support, including web content support to Sport social media channels;
  4. Assist with the development, implementation and coordination of QUT Sport Wellness initiatives and frameworks;
  5. Understand and identify key issues experienced by students whilst developing and recommending strategies to respond to these barriers;
  6. Implement on campus events in partnership with QUT Sport stakeholders to promote a healthy and active lifestyle;
  7. Compliance with health and safety policies, procedures, hazard reporting and safe work practices.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant Tertiary Qualification
  • Work efficiently to deadlines
  • Excellent customer service
  • Experience in Microsoft Office programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
