Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness (SUSF) is a dynamic and enterprising sporting organisation that provides sport, fitness and recreation services to The University of Sydney’s students and staff and to the general community. It caters for elite and participation athletes and prides itself on its range and diversity of services, staff, facilities and stakeholders.

The organisation’s 14,000 members, 400+ staff, 45 clubs and 400 elite athletes give rise to a complex and broad range of services from fitness facilities, University sporting programs, community and education programs, club support, elite athlete support as well as philanthropy and alumni engagement.

We are seeking an energetic, motivated and experienced person to work closely with SUSF and their members. The Shift Supervisor will be responsible for the smooth daily operation of their respective facility, the delivery of exceptional customer service to our members and guests and the daily coordination of a small team of staff.

Key responsibilities include:

Supervisory duties

  • Supervise all staff and their appropriate areas - including fitness centre and customer service staff.
  • Adjudicate on problems which may rise from time to time and affect the operation of the centre, its staff and members. 
  • Supervise and liaise with cleaning contractor ensuring cleanliness, hygiene and health standards are maintained at all time. 

Financial control 

  • Supervise the receiving, receipting and balancing of all monies received, end of day reconciliations, eftpos settlements
  • Check all invoices for the delivery of goods and report all work carried out. 

Budget control

  • ensure the Centre operates with budgetary guidelines by the efficient use of equipment, lighting, heating (energy) and staff rostering.

General duties

  • membership sales, facility tours, and court set ups, dealing with customer complaints and member’s feedback, pool supervision & plant room maintenance, coordinating shift breaks etc.

Cleaning duties

  • facility walk throughs, keeping centre cleanliness & presentation to a high standard etc.

The successful candidate will have:

Essential

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications - Degree in Sports Management or similar
  • Minimum 2 years Supervisory within a Sports & Aquatic facility or similar
  • Pool Lifeguard Certificate RSLA 
  • Apply First Aid Certificate
  • Oxygen Resuscitation Certificates

Desirable

  • Pool Operations & Supervision Certificate
