- Newly formed Council owned Company
- Lead the operations of four leisure facilities
- Set the culture and direction to maximise community health
South East Leisure is a newly formed Company of the City of Greater Dandenong (est. 1 July 2021) with a charter to operate the City’s four aquatic and/or leisure facilities from July 2022:
- Dandenong Oasis (Oasis)
- Noble Park Aquatic Centre (NPAC) - under redevelopment
- Springers Leisure Centre (Springers)
- Dandenong Stadium.
In order to meet Council's endorsed plans and strategies, significant planning and investment in South East Leisure's facilities is underway. The redevelopment of the Noble Park Aquatic Centre is due for completion early 2022, and the exciting new Dandenong Wellbeing Centre (to replace Oasis) is in the design phase and projected to open in 2024.
Reporting to a Board of Directors, the CEO of South East Leisure will guide the strategic planning, culture and operational capability of the Company. Building on the extensive work undertaken by the City, a key function of the CEO is to provide outstanding leadership to ensure the alignment of the delivery model with the identified business objectives and community outcomes. These community outcomes include maximising participation and enhancing health and wellbeing. In addition, a priority role of the CEO in the first 12 months is the establishment of the operational capability of the newly formed Company to ensure business readiness for the management of the four facilities from July 2022.
This is an exceptionally unique role in a recreation, health and leisure environment that provides an opportunity to make a substantial difference at a business and community level. It requires a passionate and visionary leader who can utilise the extensive resources and infrastructure available to develop a ‘road map’ for enhanced community health and wellbeing outcomes.
This is an establishment role that requires the development of an organisational culture, operating principles and values from the ground up by a ‘champion’ and advocates for the future direction of the Company. You will need to engage and develop positive relationships with a broad and complex range of stakeholders, including patrons, members, staff, Board Directors, Council and senior Council Executives, therefore a mix of commercial and government experiences (direct or indirect) is required.
To be considered for this position you will have a strong track record of successfully managing like-sized businesses, budgets and resources, ideally from an aquatics, recreation, health, venues or related industry, whilst successfully delivering against strategic objectives and driving business development.
This is not a traditional aquatic and leisure facility management role, but rather a role that drives a ‘paradigm shift’ towards maximising community health and wellbeing outcomes, through the provision of accessible and innovative programs and services.
This is an incredible opportunity as the inaugural CEO to make your mark on this new business. If you have a passion for community, recreation and aquatic services, with a vision to champion health and wellbeing outcomes for the Greater Dandenong community, we want to hear from you!
