THE OPPORTUNITY 

As a member of an energetic Customer & Brand team, you will be all about planning and bringing to life amazing experiences across participation, sports entertainment and our shiny new venue, Nissan Arena. Our business is built on events so you will play a pivotal role.

Leading strategy across the events space, you will be responsible for project managing and delivering our major events – from corporate conferences right through to broadcast elite sport.

YOUR EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES 

To be the successful in this role you will have: 

Professional

  • Relevant tertiary level qualifications in event management or sport management or a related field.
  • Minimum five years’ experience in similar events roles, managing and delivering great experiences for customers and fans in both a professional and community sporting environment.
  • Ideally you will have experience coordinating live broadcast sporting events (commercial and pay television).
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current best practice and trends within the events space. 
  • Excellent knowledge of sports and always up to date with latest developments in customer experience.
  • Experience in managing staff.
  • Extensive project management skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

THE ROLE 

The key areas of responsibility for the Event Manager include, but are not limited to:

Queensland Firebirds Events

  • Manage Firebirds game days (regular season home games, pre-season feature games, and finals events):
    • Deliver all facets of the Suncorp Super Netball League match day at Nissan Arena in line with the relevant guidelines, policies, and game day operations standards.
    • Manage logistics and installation of equipment to support the home game match days including promotional products, signage, AV, catering, entertainment, and staffing.
    • Liaise with suppliers to ensure venue specification compliance, staff and volunteers’ requirements are met.
    • Liaise with Netball Australia regarding all operational game day and season requirements.
    • Develop theming and fan engagement strategies to ensure match days deliver beyond fans expectations and provide a world-class game day experience.
  • Manage the recruitment and training of volunteers for all events.
  • Manage the delivery of all Queensland Firebirds off-court events to optimize the profile and support for the Firebirds brand, in conjunction with the marketing strategy. This includes but is not limited to the Queensland Firebirds Season Launch, Fan Day, Member events, Awards & Gala Dinner.
  • Manage the delivery of finals series matches in conjunction with Netball Australia when in Queensland.

Netball Queensland Events

  • Manage HART Sapphire Series game days at Nissan Arena:
    • Deliver all facets of the HART Sapphire Series match days at Nissan Arena in line with the relevant guidelines, policies, and game day operations standards.
    • Manage logistics and installation of equipment to support the home game match days including promotional products, signage, AV, catering, entertainment, and staffing.
    • Liaise with suppliers to ensure venue specification compliance, staff and volunteers’ requirements are met.
    • Liaise with the Sapphire Series League Manager regarding all operational game day and season requirements.
    • Develop theming and fan engagement strategies to ensure match days deliver beyond fans expectations and help create a tribal following for Sapphire teams across Queensland.
  • Manage the event delivery of Netball Queensland’s other signature competitions and events:
    • Ruby Series
    • Social Netball
    • Annual Leaders Conference

Management

  • Prepare and submit inclusions for the monthly Customer & Brand board report.
  • Formulate and manage budgets.
  • Participate in working groups.
  • Build a culture of high-performance amongst staff and lead by example.
