Netball Queensland (NQ) has an ambitious vision of becoming a world-class sports organisation, respected for transforming lives through netball. The proud home of the history-making Queensland Firebirds team, Netball Queensland is determined to continue to be the number 1 sport for women and girls in Queensland. Members are served by a team of 60 staff operating from the head office located at the new $45million state-of-the-art Nissan Arena in Nathan, Brisbane. The next few years are game changing for netball in Queensland and a dymanic CEO is needed to make the most of these opportunities.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO provides overall strategic and operational leadership for the organisation including driving the success of NQ member Associations and member Clubs, the Queensland Firebirds, and Nissan Arena. The CEO is responsible for the creation and execution of business strategies which deliver against the NQ vision and ambition, whilst championing the values of the organisation.

An outstanding strategist and collaborator, the CEO drives world-class thinking and action through implementing the Three Horizon Planning Framework outlined in the NQ Strategic Plan. Cultivating and modelling a culture of collaboration, the CEO engages with staff, NQ members, volunteers, a range of Board sub-Committees and various stakeholders to develop and execute strategies, tactics and programs. The ability to tell netball’s story with authenticity and passion is critical for engaging audiences, galvanising members and growing a tribal fanbase around the Queensland Firebirds.

This is a role for a leader who is unafraid to push boundaries, embrace new ideas or new models and who will lead a talented group of people to transform lives through netball.

To be considered for this role you will have demonstrated experience in senior leadership roles in large-scale federated sports organisation(s), with a particular emphasis on operationalising strategy within the changing nature of sport organisations. As a successful business leader, and experienced working with a Board, you will be highly skilled at all aspects of financial management (budgets of >$10m) with a track record of delivering financial and commercial growth in the business of sport.

You will be regarded as a strong, energetic, inclusive and down-to-earth manager, with a demonstrated commitment to continual improvement. Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with Government at all levels will also be an asset, as the sport works to refocus post covid and capitalise on Brisbane 2032.

Given the profile of the sport of netball in Australia, this role is clearly one of the prized sport-business positions in Queensland.
