Description

Do you want to lead a successful rowing program with a rich history of developing Olympians? The Western Australian Institute of Sport is looking for a Head Coach to lead the WAIS Rowing Program looking towards the Paris Olympic Games and beyond.

The WAIS Head Coach is responsible for delivering a high-quality daily training environment, focused on developing rowers capable of successfully transitioning into Rowing Australia’s National Training Centres and competing at senior benchmark events.

Reporting to the Pathways Performance Enhancement Team Director, the Head Coach leads the sport program within WAIS, fostering a high-performance team culture that enables all performance staff to collaborate in supporting athletes to achieve their international sporting goals. The Head Coach collaborates closely with Rowing Australia and Rowing WA, providing technical leadership in aligning the WA performance pathway.

Based out of the WAIS High Performance Service Centre in the Mt Claremont Sporting Precinct, with on-water training operating from the Canning Bridge Rowing Sheds, the successful candidate will have access to world class facilities to foster the next generation of Western Australian rowers.

We are looking for a leader with

  • Proven track record of successful rowing coaching at a State Institute/National Academy level, or higher.
  • Proven experience devising and executing effective long-term training and competition plans that develop high performance athletes.
  • Experience coaching at State U21 level or higher.
  • Track record of effective stakeholder management.

Essential Criteria

  • NCAS Level 3 or equivalent Coaching Qualification
  • Working with Children Check
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Current drivers’ licence
  • Current boat safety licence

Desirable Criteria

  • NCAS Level 4 Coaching Qualification
  • Suitable undergraduate qualification in Sport, Business, or Science.
  • Further nationally recognised coaching or support discipline (S&C or nutrition etc) certifications.

This is a 1+2-year fixed term contract, with, the potential to extend to the 2028 Olympic cycle.
