PRINCIPAL DUTIES

Provide leadership and direction to internal and external stakeholders on best practice Performance Pathway programs, activities, strategies. Specifically, in conjunction with the Coach Leadership Team, you will:

  • Apply innovative solutions to supporting long-term development of athletes and coaches;
  • Oversee the identification, selection, development and quantitative analysis of the Youth Transition, Youth and Flippers programs through categorisation; and
  • Plan and lead the activities of SA Pathway Teams and individual team members to ensure a positive international experience of peak performance;
  • Lead and deliver within the Performance Pathway Program including Youth Transition, Youth and Flippers programs to enable the best possible holistic development and ultimately performances in the pool.
  • Identify opportunities, manage and, as required deliver programs that support the development and capability of swimmers, coaches and staff closely linked to Swimming Australia’s HPU.
  • Develop new and enhanced existing processes and programs to identify, monitor and support an oversupply of athletes and coaches who possess the attributes to successfully represent Australia at major events.
  • Support the establishment and delivery of an athlete profile and tracking system.
  • Support the delivery of a holistic development program for athletes and coaches including athlete wellbeing and engagement (AW&E).
  • In conjunction with the CLT, translate SA’s technical direction into the delivery of an effective High Performance Coach development program.
  • Provide strategic direction, in unison with the CLT, to inform and influence coaches, administrators and stakeholder committees to build a cohesive, connected and effective athlete and coach development program within each state.
  • Utilise evidence-based research and analysis of world’s best practice to provide high-level advice, direction and resources to support high performance outcomes.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of the SA HP Hubs by working with the National Institute Network (NIN) and State Swimming Associations to develop and monitor program interventions to accelerate athlete and coach development,
  • Establish effective communication channels and protocols with high performance pathway athletes and their coaches and significant others that clearly articulate the policies and culture of Swimming Australia to them as they relate to their participation in the High-Performance Pathway Program.
  • Lead and apply high-level expertise in managing and implementing improvements in end to end performance operation processes.
  • Foster and build strong relationships with relevant stakeholders.
  • Lead and manage direct reports to ensure they effectively and efficiently perform their role.
  • Build capability in a team environment through coaching and mentoring others, providing performance feedback, conflict resolution and encouraging career development.

General

  • Partner with and work effectively and collaboratively across SA and relevant stakeholders to achieve organisational goals, targets and objectives.
  • Provide regular updates to the High Performance Director as required.
  • Proactively plan, manage, coordinate, track and run assigned tasks.
  • Attend and participate in meetings and attend events as required.
  • Uphold and foster a culture of high performance, excellence and continuous improvement within SA.
  • Conduct thorough self-checking of information and documentation.
  • Maintaining project files and keeping documentation in order.
  • Undertake other reasonable tasks as delegated by the High Performance Director.
  • Perform general office duties as required.
  • Adopt continuous learning and improvement processes in all aspects of the position.
  • Implement, participate and promote SA Safe Sport Framework, values, policies, processes and procedures.
