The Canterbury-Bankstown Leisure & Aquatic Services Swim School is proudly owned and operated by the City of Canterbury Bankstown. Each week, more than 7,000 students (pre-covid) from 6 months of age through to adults take part in the program across four centres. Learn to Swim programs are also provided for over 100 schools from the local community each year as well as school holiday intensive programs run between school terms.
Reporting to the Coordinator Leisure & Wellness Programs the Swim Schools Manager (Team Leader Swim School) will oversee the operational management of the Canterbury Bankstown Swim Schools and related services across Birrong, Canterbury, Max Parker and Roselands Leisure & Aquatic Centres.
This dynamic and varied management role will be responsible for inspiring and motivating a team across multiple venues to teach a critical lifesaving skill to thousands of participants across Canterbury Bankstown. As well as overseeing the operational management of program, the role will work collaboratively with Leadership team to continuously improve and grow the service. There are some really exciting projects that this position will take a lead role in including rebranding of the program, a new and improved method of service delivery, as well as the opportunity to operate out of some brand new state of the art facilities in the near future!
The position is responsible for leading and developing a team of 8 permanent staff and up to 100 casual employees, relating daily to the Swim School Site Supervisors, Duty Managers, Swim School Instructors, local schools and venue patrons, whilst also working collaboratively across Council departments. This role sets the tone of the whole program with a clear focus on leading, demonstrating and encouraging a positive staff culture that promotes continuous improvement, cohesion, collaboration, initiative and a commitment to providing a safe and high quality customer experience.
To be considered for this role you will need to have demonstrated experience in the operations and delivery of a large swim school program, ideally across multiple centres. As well as ensuring the program is operated in line with organisational policy, procedures and industry best practice, the position requires an energetic, motivated and innovative person who will inspire ideas and use initiative to assist with business development. Candidates with demonstrated experience creating significant growth in an aquatic programs environment will be looked upon favourably.
Qualifications in Teaching of Swimming and Water Safety, ASCTA and/or The Royal Life Saving Society are required, as is a current CPR and Apply First Aid Certificate.
