The Chief Executive Officer will lead a staffing team and work closely with the Board, staff, associations, affiliates, partners, suppliers, government, media and venues. 

Position Responsibilities are as follows:

  • Board liaison and management
  • Government liaison and management.
  • Basketball Australia liaison and management.
  • Profile/Leadership/Representing Basketball in Tasmania.
  • Overview Business Alliances/Sponsorship.
  • Partnership Management.
  • Oversee the Financial Management.
  • Lead Structural Discussions throughout the state.
  • CSR Major Grant Management and Acquittal.
  • Source commercial opportunities.
  • NBL and NBL1 Liaison.
  • Lead Facility Discussions with government including producing a Facilities Plan.
  • Annual General Meeting Preparation.
  • Oversee Marketing Activities

Essential Requirements

  • Current Tasmanian Working With Children Check – or the ability to obtain one.
  • Current Driver's Licence

Desirable Criteria

  • Proficiency - Significant experience and knowledge, together with demonstrated competency in leading the operations of a state-wide not for profit or similar organisation.
  • Expertise - High level leadership skills, proven administration and financial management competence and the demonstrated capacity and effectiveness to create, lead and manage effective teams and associated resources.
  • Strategic Thinking - Proven strategic management abilities and awareness of the strategic vision of Basketball Tasmania with an understanding of the policy environment, along with proven skills to drive performance, to achieve outcomes.
  • Achievement of Results - Demonstrated senior management experience in the development and delivery of significant initiatives within specified timeframes that achieve the required outcomes.
  • Productive Working Relationships/Communicating with Influence Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills and proven capacity to engage key stakeholders and clients (including the ability to work effectively with government) for positive benefit; communicate clearly (both written and verbal); negotiate persuasively; resolve conflict; and an ability to sell the sport of basketball.
  • Personal Drive and Integrity - Demonstrate the values of Basketball Tasmania including drive, professionalism and integrity, with a strong proven performance in previous senior roles; possessing high level initiative and adaptability, proven conceptual, analytical and creative skills, and the ability to manage change, motivate, and guide staff, and achieve results in a change environment
