Penrith Valley Regional Sports Centre (PVRSC) is a leading sports and events venue committed to delivering exceptional experiences and fostering community engagement. As we navigate a significant transitional phase, we are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our team and play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence and supporting our growth objectives.

Role Overview:

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Operations Manager plays a pivotal and demanding role at the PVRSC. Responsible for overseeing daily operations, enhancing team effectiveness, and leading initiatives to ensure seamless transitions during this pivotal period, this position is crucial for setting the foundation for future success and career advancement opportunities within our organisation. In addition to these responsibilities, the Operations Manager will play a key role in overseeing the future implementation of our basketball program and other future in-house competitions, further expanding our community engagement and sports offerings. Responsibilities:

  • Manage People Performance: Lead and inspire a diverse team to achieve operational goals and foster a positive work environment.
  • Financial Oversight: Ensure accurate cash handling and weekly business takings entry.
  • Kiosk Management: Oversee stock ordering, pricing strategies, and performance reporting.
  • Event Management: Conduct post-event reviews, customer feedback analysis, and revenue monitoring. Analyse kiosk sales data for strategic insights.
  • Process Improvement: Develop models and processes to enhance staff punctuality and efficiency during events.
  • Safety and Compliance: Uphold WH&S standards and ensure exceptional customer service at all times.
  • Customer Relations: Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring exceptional service delivery.
  • Booking Management: Handle venue bookings, coordinate logistics, and manage event operations, including equipment hire and team briefings.
  • Support Initiatives: Assist in managing the local competitions and coordinate a new futsal competition. Provide administrative support to the General Manager as needed.
  • Volunteer Recognition: Accountable for recognising and supporting volunteers integral to our operations.

Additional Details:

  • Employment Type: Full-time, 38 hours per week.
  • Hours will be self-managed to meet role requirements, with occasional reasonable overtime expected during peak periods. It should be noted that this role will include some weekend work to accommodate operational needs and events.
  • Transition Support: The Operations Manager will play a crucial role in supporting PVRSC through a major transitional phase, ensuring operational continuity and readiness for future growth.
  • Career Development: Successful navigation of the transition will open doors for future career advancement opportunities, including oversight of competition management staff.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership experience with a focus on team development and performance management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and complex data manipulation, to create detailed management reports and support decision-making processes.
  • Strong customer service skills and a genuine passion for community engagement.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating resilience and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative and inclusive approach.
  • Experience in leisure management systems or similar administrative tools.
  • Essential qualifications include a diploma or higher in frontline management or a related field.
  • Current First Aid certifications (HLTAID011 and HLTAID009), Driver's License, and Working with Children Check are required. (Or willing to obtain)
  • National Police Check or willingness to obtain one.
  • It is desirable to have a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate or be willing to obtain it.
  • Flexibility to handle last-minute calls and respond effectively to urgent issues, including availability to come in on short notice.
  • Willingness to provide occasional support outside of regular working hours as required.
  • Must be fit and healthy, with the physical strength to assist with setup and pack downs of sporting venues.
