ABOUT THE ROLE
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a VFL High Performance Manager to join Casey Demons Football Club. This position will be responsible for implementing a successful physical preparation and performance based VFL program and coaching in conjunction with the priorities of the AFL program.
This is a part-time position from November 2024 for the duration of the 2025 VFL Season. The role involves 3 training sessions per week during pre-season and 2 training sessions plus game day during the season.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
Reporting directly to the VFL Senior Coach, key areas of responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement a world-class high-performance program that supports the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of VFL players.
- Work closely with coaching and medical staff to ensure that the high-performance program aligns with the VFL’s game plan and player development goals.
- Develop and implement individualized training programs that improve player performance, reduce injury risk, and support player recovery.
- Work closely with the Club Doctors and performance staff to assist in the management of medical and rehabilitation programs for players, ensuring that injured players receive high-quality care and support during their recovery.
- Manage the performance analysis and data collection processes, working closely with the coaching staff to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies to enhance player performance.
- Develop and lead the development of the High-Performance staff, providing guidance and support to ensure that staff have the skills and knowledge they need to support player development.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the high-performance program, using data and feedback from players and coaching staff to drive continuous improvement
ABOUT YOU
You hold a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Sports Science, or a related field, and ideally have ASCA or ESSA certification. Experience in a high-performance environment is preferred, along with a strong understanding of running mechanics and the ability to teach running drills and coach within the gym.
You excel in building rapport and trust with players and staff through strong interpersonal skills. Self-motivated and results-oriented, you are committed to team success with a "team-first" mentality. You are known for your influencing skills, quick problem-solving abilities, and adaptability in dynamic environments.
You are available outside of normal business hours including evenings and weekends.
