Description

Are you a rockstar physio who wants to work with a private-sector organisation with an unmatched track record of producing staff ready and fit for roles in pro sport (three of our last four depatures from the company left for full-time roles in professional sport... where else does that happen?)

Do you want to be developed by industry leaders who have headed up performance departments in multiple professional sports (AFL, NRL, Netball)?

Is becoming a weapon of a practiitoner that can hold their own with the big dogs a priority of yours?

If the answer to all of that is yes, and if you want a pathway to pro sport without getting flogged doing your 7th honoraium season at academy/semi-pro level, then read on, because this role might be for you...

About the role:

As a physiotherapist within our rehab department, you will conduct injury assessments, manage acute injuries out on the pitch, and, the end-stage management for our rehabilitation athletes. You will report directly to Kalen o'Donoghue, our Head of Rehabilitation and Nathan Williams, our Head of Performance. Developing an unmatched clinical and gym-floor skill set, your performance will be judged on the following three criteria:

  1. How many successful transitions/returns of athletes into our performance programs are achieved;
  2. How many athletes are under your management coupled with your clinical utilisation (the % of time you're serving athletes);
  3. How many team-sports appointments you've generated from our partnership clubs.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and conduct initial athlete screening sessions and produce handover reports to the performance team.
  • Conduct follow-up consults for the rehabilitation athletes.
  • Maintain a clear, concise and up to date medical record for every athlete to allow for the effective evaluation of the athlete’s progress and the physiotherapist’s practice. These records should be both written and filmed and then stored within the secure Athletes Authority databases.
  • Develop, deliver and progress rehab programs within the Athletes Authority programming framework.
  • Develop quantitative and qualitative exit criteria for all injuries requiring surgery
  • Accompany athletes to all follow-up consults with surgeons.
  • Conduct Return To Run (RTR) sessions on the field.
  • Conduct Return To Contact (RTC) sessions on the field.
  • Focus heavily on the development of a leading, integrated sports physiotherapy program in the private sector.
  • Coordinate and deliver special projects like presentations, as outlined by the Head of Performance to students, interns and external coaches.
  • Generate referrals from team sport relationships toward the growth of the rehab program.

The type of attitude we're looking for:

  1. You will need to love making athletes feel special, supported, and encouraged, with the ability to connect and get buy-in from a wide range of personality types. You need to be able to influence their decision-making through influence and trust. If you like to make excuses why athletes aren't buying in or why they're not taking your advice, we're not for you.
  2. You will need to love winning, and have a great sense of pride knowing you're contributing to the success of your team by outperforming on your key KPIs. If you're not a natural winner, don't have a competitive spirit, or think aiming big is a irrelevant, we are absolutely not for you.
  3. You will need to see team sports affliations as an excellent opportunity to showcase your skillset as a practitioner and leverage those relationships to grow the athletic rehab program. If you don't want to be involved in high level team-sport commitments (and use that partnership to grow your athlete list), then we're not for you.

Skills & Experience

  1. If you've got less than 5 years of clinical experience working with a large athletic case-load, then you'll have to demonstrate incredible clinical reasoning and decision making to be considered.
  2. You'll need to be able to adapt quickly to our flagship training system and design top-notch, world-class rehab programs.
  3. You'll need to have all the necessary qualifications - First Aid, Sports Trainer and a Physiotherapy degree is the minimum.

Essential Requirements

Application Instruction

Please email your resume along with a one-page cover letter addressed to Lachlan and Kalen. We will then reach out to you if you're a good fit for an interview.

The application process happens in three steps.

  1. You'll first have a general interview. We'll assess your general vibe, discuss your experience and history, and get a vibe if you're a good fit for our team.
  2. If you make the cut, we'll give you some practical case studies to design some rehab programs. We need to see your decision making. We'll also get you on the gym floor (paid) for a shift to see how comfortable you are in that environment.
  3. If you're still in the running, we'll do one final interview where you meet some of the leadership team, and we'll make sure that we've got the natural compatability to turn you into an absolute weapon.
