Remuneration (Per Annum): As agreed in the Contract of Employment
Hours: 8-10 hours per week. Typically, 2-3 hours are spent rostering early in the week, 4-5 hours on game day (Saturday afternoons), and 1-2 hours on Sunday / Monday finalising the weekend roster for pay.
Context:
The Southern District Junior Basketball League (SDJBL) aims to provide a safe, well-run basketball competition, a pathway for elite players, referees, and coaches, and ensure long-term financial security and sustainability. The Referee Coordinator is crucial in achieving these goals by managing and developing all referees within the SDJBL.

Primary Purpose:
The Basketball Referee coordinator will oversee the rostering of referees for all SDJBL games, manage referee development programs, and conduct regular training courses. This role requires a deep understanding of basketball rules, strong organisational skills, a passion for the sport’s development, and adherence to SDJBL policies.
Key Accountabilities:
- Referee Management: Maintained records, managed reports, served as the point of call on game days, and handled enquiries, suggestions, complaints, and issues.
- Referee Appointments: Coordinate the referee roster, assist newly trained referees, and manage rostering systems.
- Referee Development: Attend stadiums on game days, provide feedback, run monthly training sessions (in person or online), run regular development courses and identify potential referees for advancement.

- Proven experience in basketball refereeing.

- Current accreditation as a basketball referee is highly desirable.
