The Role:
We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Physiotherapist to join our Academy Team and contribute to the development and well-being of our Junior Academy players. The role offers the opportunity to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team to manage injury prevention, diagnosis, and rehabilitation, helping players reach their full potential both on and off the field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions for Academy players
- Provide pre-training care including taping, manual therapy, and other treatments as required
- Work closely with the Club Doctor, Strength & Conditioning team, and other departments to optimise player performance and care
- Design and deliver individual and team injury prevention programmes based on screening results, medical history, and injury trends
- Maintain regular communication with Academy staff, providing updates on player rehabilitation and recovery progress
- Maintain comprehensive and confidential medical records for all players' injuries and treatments
- Advise senior staff and liaise with A-League Men staff to manage complex injuries, referring players to specialists or rehabilitation centres when necessary
- Champion the values of the organisation, fostering a positive and engaging culture within the Academy and the wider community
- Ensure all activities align with WUFC’s governance and compliance requirements
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor of Physiotherapy (or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years post-graduate clinical experience
- Current AHPRA registration as a Physiotherapist
- Current CPR and Pitch-side Trauma qualifications
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with a range of stakeholders
- Proven ability to build relationships with internal and external teams
- Strong IT skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
- Ability to work on match days, including interstate travel as required
- Current Working with Children Check
- Current Victorian Drivers Licence
- Right to work in Australia
Desirable Qualifications & Experience:
- Master’s in Sports Physiotherapy or Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy (or working towards)
- Previous experience in a professional sports environment
- Experience using athlete monitoring systems (e.g., EDGE10) to track player wellbeing and medical data
- Experience in designing and delivering rehabilitation and re-conditioning sessions specific to footballers
- Exercise Science qualifications or related experience
