Description

Are you passionate about Para-sport and driven to make a difference in Paralympic athlete development? Paralympics Australia (PA) and Swimming Australia (SA) are looking for a Paralympic Classification Lead to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in shaping and delivering SA’s classification program, ensuring compliance with international standards while promoting athlete progression and integrity.

About the Role

As the Paralympic Classification Lead, you will:

  • Develop and implement SA’s classification strategy, policies, and operational plans.
  • Coordinate domestic and international classification opportunities, ensuring alignment with WPS and IPC standards.
  • Support athletes in their preparation for International Classification.
  • Manage classification disputes and appeals, ensuring fair resolution processes.
  • Lead the recruitment, training, and management of classifiers, fostering professional development.
  • Provide education on classification to athletes, coaches, and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate classification data and resources, reporting in line with organizational policies.
  • Advocate for classification within SA, PA, and key organizations to enhance system efficiencies.

About You

We’re seeking someone with:

  • Strong understanding of the Australian sport system, Para-sport, and classification in Paralympic sports.
  • Leadership skills, with the ability to manage teams and volunteers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder communication abilities.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to ethical and transparent practices.
  • Proficiency in data management and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Preferred background in sport management, sport science, or related fields.
  • Allied health professionals transitioning to managerial roles are also encouraged to apply.
  • Current Working with Children’s Check and completion of key sport integrity training courses.
