Bowls is fun, addictive and sociable - easy to grasp but difficult to master. With over 640,000 people playing the sport and even more enjoying barefoot bowls on an ad-hoc basis, the Bowls workforce (both volunteer and professional) has a vital role in retaining and growing participation, and ensuring that the sport is safe and inclusive where all members of the community feel welcome.

To ensure that we continue to support the hard working members of the Bowls workforce, Bowls Australia are excited to start the search for an Education & Training Manager on a full-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for providing high quality learning and development opportunities for members of the Bowls workforce to help Bowls become the sport of choice to volunteer, coach or officiate in.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the General Manager – Workforce Development with the implementation of a National Workforce Development strategy that aims to drive positive culture and behaviours from Clubs through to High Performance improving the experience for participants, coaches, officials and volunteers.
  • Managing and updating Bowls Australia’s Learning Management System working closely with the BA BowlsLink Team.
  • Implementing the delivery of Bowls Australia’s coaching and officiating accreditation scheme.
  • Coordinating and supporting Bowls Australia’s National Coach & Official Facilitator workforce.
  • Providing high quality ongoing development support to coaches and officials.
  • Managing the implementation of a Coach membership scheme including the coach reaccreditation process.

Qualifications and Skills:

The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • Experience in working in and maintaining learning management systems.
  • A good understanding of the Australian Sports Commission’s Modern approach to Coaching and Officiating.
  • Strong end-user focus and stakeholder management ability.
  • Highly motivated with demonstrated commitment to providing high quality development opportunities to others.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills gained from previous work experience or community involvement.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure, prioritise and manage resources to meet deadlines.

  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills is desirable.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Sport, Education or Human Resources are desirable.

Interactions: You will have regular interactions internally with High Performance, Participation and BowlsLink teams as well as ongoing engagement with National Advisory Groups. Externally, you will be working closely a diverse range of stakeholders including the Australian Sports Commission, 8 State and Territory  Bowls Associations, as well as directly communicating with coaches, officials and volunteers.

Unique Criteria: This role may require some interstate travel and some work out-of-hours.

Bowls Australia's head office is based in Melbourne but we are accepting applications from any location throughout Australia for this role.
