Thirroul JFC is seeking a committed and ambitious coach to take our Women's Premier League First Grade team to the next level. The Thunderbirds are one of the founding clubs in the Football South Coast WPL competition and boast a competitive senior squad supplemented by emerging talent from our 2024 premiership winning WPL Youth Grade team.
This volunteer role is a great opportunity for either an experienced coach, or someone looking to establish his or herself as a head coach.
Thirroul JFC is the biggest sporting club in the Northern Suburbs of Wollongong, with men's, women's and junior teams playing in competitions ranging from U6s to O45s.
The Women's Premier League comprises of three grades - First Grade, Second Grade and Youth Grade - who play together each Sunday at 3pm, 1pm and 11am.
The First Grade coach would be required to work with the coaches of the other teams to run training sessions and select teams for games each weekend.
Among the skills and attributes required by the Thunderbirds First Grade coach are the ability to:
- Motivate players
- Communicate effectively
- Plan training sessions and match tactics
- Lead in setting culture at club
- Implement technical coaching of senior squad
- Manage First Grade team on game day
- Develop an appropriate level of football IQ among players
- Ensure open and supportive communication with all other senior coaches
- Encourage a team first mentality
- Promote the club's development philosophy
- Work with members of the Executive Committee
- Be accountable for player selection
- Observe and analyse skills and make improvements
- Make use of appropriate equipment and adapt if necessary
- Accept and reinforce club policies and overall vision
