About the role

As our Assistant Athletics Coach, you will play a vital role in coaching and developing our student-athletes in the discipline of middle distance and recreational running. Your expertise and guidance will be instrumental in shaping their technique, enhancing their skills, and helping them reach their full potential. 
Commencing the 28th of January 2025, the successful applicant must be available for training sessions four days per week, held before school from 6.45am to 8.15am, during term time only. Days to be negotiated.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Guide and inspire student athletes in running, nurturing their passion for the sport.  
  • Design personalised training programs to enhance technique, strength, and overall performance.
  • Lead regular practice sessions, offering tailored feedback and support for to each athlete.
  • Plan and supervise team workouts, ensuring a safe and productive training environment.
  • Prepare students for competitions, assisting with strategy, warm-ups, and mental preparation.
  • Monitor and assess students’ progress, identifying areas for growth and implementing targeted improvements. 
  • Foster a positive and inclusive team culture, emphasising sportsmanship, respect, and discipline.

About you:

  • A current paid Blue Card
  • Minimum Level 1 Recreational Running Coach or Level 2 Development Coach (Specialising in Distance Running)
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate
  • Proven ability to motivate and inspire students to reach their full potential.
  • Effective communication skills to connect with student athletes, parents, and staff.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and demonstrate leadership qualities.
