The position of Strength and Conditioning Coach will make a significant contribution towards the long-term athlete development of Xavier College students, whilst also positively contributing to the broader Xavier College Sport Program. This position provides the S&C Coach with the opportunity to grow and learn with other likeminded S&C coaches within the Xavier College Strength and Conditioning department, whilst providing integral support to the students.
This position will develop and require the successful applicant to oversee the Strength and Conditioning and Sport Science servicing for specific sporting teams or programs across the APS seasons. Additionally, this position will also be integral in assisting the Head of Athlete Performance and Development with the implementation and supervision of Strength and Conditioning and fitness testing units within the Physical Education curriculum.
The successful applicant should be able to integrate and enhance the shared values of the school and collaborate with key Strength and Conditioning staff, Sports Department staff and Sport Coaches to assist with not only the physical development of students, but enhance the sporting experience and outcomes of athletes within their program. The position requires strong inter/intra-personal skills that can facilitate buy-in and engagement amongst all members of their program, whilst enhancing their experiences and outcomes. Work hours for the year will be advised by the Head of Athlete Development.
Core Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervise strength training sessions for Xavier College students.
Support Xavier College sport coaches and teams with on field Strength and Conditioning and Sport Science servicing.
Supervise warm-up, running conditioning and cross training sessions for Xavier College students.
Collect, monitor, and report GPS data for Xavier College students.
Assist the Strength and Conditioning Manager to maintain and enforce the overarching strength training standards and philosophies.
Assist the Strength and Conditioning Manager with strength training, athletic development and injury prevention programs using the College’s long-term athletic development philosophy.
Provide a sessional report to the Strength and Conditioning Manager.
Devise and amend strength training programs preceding, during and/or proceeding sessions.
During each gym session, ensure that the gym is maintained to provide a safe and engaging environment for students.
Assist the Strength and Conditioning Manager with the supervision of Strength & Conditioning units within the Physical Education curriculum.
Assist the Strength and Conditioning Manager with the supervision of the middle year’s fitness testing and talent identification program.
Ensure that the gym is maintained and complies with the College’s safety standards at the completion of each session.
Adhere to and implement safe working practices and procedures in accordance with the College’s Occupational Health & Safety Policy.
Occupational Health and Safety
Comply with Victorian OHS legislation and Xavier College OHS policies and procedures.
Perform duties in a safe manner without risk to his/her own health and safety, or the health and safety of others including, but not limited to students, other staff, contractors, volunteers and visitors.
Report any hazard, incident, injury or illness as soon as practicable.
Make OHS a priority, by completing or contributing to, required risk management plans whilst undertaking tasks in the School’s operations.
Work in consultation with the HAPD to ensure the gym and equipment are maintained to ensure student and staff safety.

Qualifications and Credentials:
Two years of Strength and Conditioning and Sport Science experience.
Bachelor of Exercise Science or equivalent.
ASCA Level 2 (Level 1 is a minimum requirement with the expectation that the Level 2 is completed within 6 months of employment)
