Description

The Events Coordinator will be responsible for the delivery of VACT tournaments, competition events, School competition and engagement events, representative team administration, match day experience for the Capital Volleyball League (CVL) and the Canberra Heat Superleague team.

Working under general supervision:

  1. Role model Volleyball ACT organisational values, demonstrating a high standard of behaviour, including respect for, and collaboration with others at all times.
  2. Adhere to, uphold and promote the principles of Volleyball ACT policies and operating procedures.
  3. Support the planning and coordination of representative teams
  4. Coordinate, administer and manage events and delivery.
  5. Attend delegated events as required and play a lead role in the event management team.
  6. Liaise with key event delivery partners including clubs, organisers, sponsors, suppliers and contractors.
  7. Other duties as directed to support the overall success of Volleyball ACT, in support of event planning and management, and as a member of the Volleyball ACT Team

Key Responsibilities

  1. Representative Program: Lead key aspects of the representative program including liaison with coaches, team managers, players/parents, arrange travel/accommodation/facility bookings, equipment needs and uniform requirements.
  2. Tournament Management: in consultation with the CEO deliver a range of high calibre events.
  3. Event Management: coordinate a range of high profile VACT events including Australian Volleyball Super League (AVSL) and the VACT Annual Awards.
  4. Website & Social Media: manage aspects of the VACT website and social media accounts to ensure that content remains accurate and relevant for events.
  5. Facility and equipment management: Coordinate with the CEO to manage the equipment and facility requirements for all Volleyball ACT events
  6. Match Day Experience: Provide a consistent high level of presentation to Volleyball ACT events, competitions and tournaments.

Key Requirements; Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Event Management / Sports Administration / Business or appropriate experience.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and some weekends as required.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and an ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Advanced Problem-solving ability.

Desirable

  • Excellent writing, editing and communication skills.
  • Experience with sports events or competitions software, in particular the use of Exposure volleyball or similar.
  • Sound knowledge and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, Adobe, web management and social media platforms.
  • A high degree of flexibility, enthusiasm and the ability to work unsupervised and as part of a small team.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

A current Working With Children Check (WWCC) and a clear understanding of child-safe principles are essential.
