The VIS Performance Lifestyle Adviser will:
Be a key part of the Performance Lifestyle (PL) Team, upholding the VIS motto of “Success in Sport and Life”
Provide quality and credible individualised career, education, wellbeing, lifestyle management, and transition advice to VIS athletes to enhance athlete wellbeing and performance capabilities
Deliver impactful PL to VIS Sport Programs as part of a collaborative inter-disciplinary team
Implement PL programs and individualised support to help athletes successfully navigate critical transition points in both sport and life that exist throughout their sporting career and beyond
Design, implement, and review VIS PL programs aligned with the VIS PL strategy and vision for athlete development which includes engaging with key stakeholders, PL team members, VIS athletes, Sport Programs, and external partners to promote athlete wellbeing and performance
Job Responsibilities
Manage and deliver PL services to VIS Sport Programs. Engage and collaborate with the appropriate VIS coaches/program/performance managers to identity the key PL factors for progression, performance and wellbeing in the VIS Sport Program. From this develop, implement and review PL Sport Plans
Deliver athlete focused individualised support, that empowers them to navigate the demands of HP sport, in balance with their wellbeing, engagement in life, career and education pursuits and personal/professional development. Alongside the athlete develop an athlete Life/Development plan that aligns with their IPP
Provide support for Induction into HP Sport pathway as athletes take up a VIS scholarship. Ensure athletes are provided with support and access to resources to thrive within HP Sport
Provide access and referrals to VIS Performance Psychologist and/or AIS Mental Health Referral Network & AIS Career Practitioner Referral Network
Collaborate with National Sporting Organisation (NSO) AW&E Lead/Manager to develop aligned practices to support athletes
Develop positive working relationships with athlete stakeholders including families, coaches, NSOs/SSAs, service providers, administrators, educators, employers, businesses, and external consultancies
Design, facilitate and deliver PL services to address the contemporary issues faced by high performance athletes, particularly in the areas of enhancing athlete wellbeing, performance capabilities and capacity to manage transitions
Consider wider perspectives with a focus on the needs of the athlete, when making decisions. Be able to hold multiple perspectives from a range of key personnel to support decisions that have a clear rationale and are well considered
Collaborate with the VIS PL team to plan, deliver and review Performance Lifestyle projects with key internal and external stakeholders
Implement and review policies and procedures that are aligned to the AIS W&E Best Practice Guidelines and Minimum Wellbeing Standards to support the holistic development, safety (including data collection), and protection of VIS athletes
Ensure accurate and timely input of data into the Athlete Management System (AMS), including but not limited to Consult Notes and Athlete Bio’s
Have and maintain a thorough understanding of Child Safeguarding policies and procedures and how they relate to HP Sport
Be a leading example of the principles and values embodied in the VIS Code of Conduct, and behave, act, and communicate at all times to reflect fairness, ethics and professionalism

Establish and implement a Professional Development plan in conjunction with the Performance Lifestyle Manager
