Hornsby Ku-Ring-Gai Spiders is a Basketball Association based in Sydney's Upper North Shore. Catering to over 6,500 members, the Association offers a variety of basketball programs to players of all ages and abilities. As a not-for-profit, aligned with Basketball NSW, our priority lies in providing the best possible experience to our members.

Our Organisational & Coaching Structure
We are a small but committed team. With a newly appointed General Manager and existing Player & Coach Development Manager, the Association is currently undergoing a restructure of its coaching department. This includes the implementation of a 'Spiders Style of Play' and focus on coach development, education and output.
We are looking for coaches who would like to join the Association at this exciting point in time across a number of our basketball offerings.
Please read the below roles. We currently have availabilities across multiple coaching positions.
1) Casual positions (paid)
As part of an energetic and enthusiastic team, work with Hornsby Ku-Ring Gai Basketball Associations coaches to help deliver our programs to school aged children as per the below. These opportunities exist across school hours, weekends and school holidays.
- In-stadium/external venue weekend skills classes
- In school weekday clinics
- Holiday camps
2) Domestic and Representative coaching opportunities
We are looking for coaches who:
- Are invested in developing their coaching and have a growth mindset
- Want to deliver a quality learning opportunity for all players
- Can coach their team towards learning outcomes at training and in game play
A) Domestic coaching (local competition – volunteer positions)
As our competitions are conducted across each weeknight (during school terms), there is sure to be a day to fit your schedule for you to start your coaching journey.
B) Representative coaching (coaches receive a stipend)
Become an assistant coach or head coach in our Spiders Representative program and:
- Be a part of our coaching community dedicated to player development
- Receive mentoring and support to grow your basketball knowledge and experience
- Develop your skills teaching, group management and game day coaching
- “Give back” to the local community to help the “next generation of players”
Who will the successful applicants be?
- Passionate, enthusiastic and reliable.
- An understanding of the importance of fostering a positive community.
- You must be available for regular hours - as with all sports, the majority of work will be outside of 'normal' working hours.
- You will have either a playing background or experience delivering an engaging experience for children (can be from another sport) or are willing to learn.
- You will hold (or will complete this prior to starting) current WWCC & PBTR (play by the rules) certificates and are invested in furthering your accreditations on an ongoing basis.
