The Maiden Gully Marist Cricket Club all-abilities teams participate in the Melbourne All Abilities Cricket Association (MAACA) for 10 years. With 3 teams playing in the MAACA during 24/25, the club has a well-respected reputation of providing all-abilities cricketers in the Bendigo region and opportunity to play against their peers with an objective of continuous improvement, fun and be fully supported to play cricket at a level that they desire.
The club is looking for a Division 1 coach who can develop the playing list and coordinate the team operations. The successful applicant will be fully supported by an experienced committee who oversees all teams.
The role is a Volunteer position, but for the right person an honorarium will be considered.
Key Responsibilities
Coaching & Player Development:
Design and implement engaging, high-quality training programs to improve players' technical and tactical skills.
Provide clear, concise, and motivating instruction and constructive feedback to individuals and the team.
Monitor, assess, and provide feedback to players to foster their development.
Develop and implement programs for talent identification and player growth, including managing a heightened game awareness.
Support and coordinate the team on match days in both Bendigo and Melbourne.
Assist in providing a pathway for players to engage in Mainstream Cricket and Representative Cricket in the All-Abilities framework.
Team Management & Strategy:
Develop and implement team structures and game strategies for match days.
Foster a positive team environment and high standards of behaviour.
Assist with player selection and communicate decisions and expectations clearly.
Coordinate and supervise practice sessions, providing direction to assistant coaches and captains.
Communication & Liaison:
Communicate effectively with the All-Abilities Coordinator, players, parents, and other relevant parties
Collaborate with All-Abilities Coordinator other coaches, support staff, and selectors to facilitate player and team success.
Contribute to team and program reviews, identifying areas for improvement.
Risk & Compliance:
Ensure adherence to club policies, procedures, and risk management guidelines, including child protection and safety.
Advocate for player health and well-being, collaborating with professionals and All-Abilities Coordinator when needed.
Key Requirements & Desirable Qualities
Accreditation:
Minimum relevant coaching accreditation of Level 1 is desired or a willingness to obtain.
Qualification in working with people that participate in all-abilities sport or experience coaching in this area.
Availability
You will be required to be available for weekly training sessions and on match days.
Training is conducted once a week on Wednesday afternoons & there will be 8 home & away rounds played on Sundays throughout the Summer.
Experience:
Experience in coaching not essential, but a willingness to learn in the role and develop players during your tenure is expected.
Skills:
Strong understanding of cricket techniques, tactics, and rules.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
Ability to analyse the game, plan, and adapt coaching methods.
A positive attitude, initiative, and a drive to develop their own skills.
