The Performance Science Coordinator is a pivotal applied science and coaching role within Athletes Authority, responsible for overseeing the full performance testing, monitoring, and reporting ecosystem across both Athletes Authority and its partnership with the NSW Swifts.
This position bridges the gap between data and decision-making - ensuring insights translate into actionable programming and improved athlete performance outcomes. The role combines hands-on coaching, analytical leadership, and cross-department collaboration to drive performance excellence across all athlete pathways.

The Performance Science coordinator will have a variety of key stakeholder relationships both inside the four walls of Athletes Authority and with the NSW Swifts, including:
Internally: Director of Performance, Strength & Conditioning Coaches, Sports Physiotherapists and Operations.
Externally: Head Coach of NSW Swifts, the Lead S&C Coach, medical staff, athletes and general management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Performance Science Leadership (Athletes Authority)
- Manage and optimise internal company data infrastructure.
- Lead the design and implementation of athlete testing and monitoring systems.
- Coordinate and execute physical testing sessions across performance and rehab.
- Collate, analyse, and store athlete data for longitudinal tracking.
- Deliver timely, high-quality athlete GamePlans summarising testing results.
- Collaborate with coaches and physios to ensure data informs training decisions.
- Develop frameworks for continuous improvement in testing and monitoring.
2. Performance Science Leadership (NSW Swifts)
- Manage all GPS, RPE, and wellness monitoring systems.
- Oversee load management across athletes to optimise performance and availability.
- Analyse and interpret GPS and physical testing data for athletes, coaches, and performance staff.
- Maintain accurate and timely team reporting systems.
- Develop dashboards and frameworks for effective communication between departments.
- Support the Swifts’ coaching and medical staff with integrated data insights.
- Supervise and mentor sports science interns supporting Swifts operations.
3. Applied Coaching & Athlete Delivery
- Lead athlete testing and assessment sessions (onboarding and re-testing).
- Translate data insights into practical programming decisions.
- Design and coach elite-level strength, power, conditioning, and speed programs.
- Deliver on-floor and field-based coaching sessions aligned with the Athletes Authority model.
- Build deep, engaging relationships with athletes through communication, education, and support.
- Use digital tools (e.g., WhatsApp, Loom) to communicate performance data clearly and consistently.
- Contribute to content creation, internal education, and industry presentations.
- Support company projects and Project Pods focused on innovation and performance system development.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
The successful candidate will be measured across the following key domains:
- Testing and monitoring completion by Athletes Authority Athlete
- Delivery of performance reports to athletes
- Infrastructure uptime (spreadsheets, data tracking etc)
- Athlete retention and satisfaction
- Load Management compliance (Swifts)
- Reporting timeliness & stakeholder satisfaction
Runway
You will inherit a well-established system across both Athletes Authority and the NSW Swifts. The expected runway to reach full KPI proficiency is 12 weeks.
Skills & Experience
Must have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise & Sport Science (or equivalent).
- ASCA accreditation (or eligibility).
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- Experience in athlete testing, GPS/load monitoring, and data analysis.
- Practical S&C coaching experience.
Nice to have:
- 3+ years’ experience in a high-performance sporting environment.
- Postgraduate qualifications (Masters or PhD) in Sport Science.
- Experience leading interns or students.
- Proficiency in athlete management software, GPS platforms, and reporting dashboards.
- Experience coding in R
Compensation & Start Date
$75,000 - $85,000 + performance-based bonuses, inc superannuation with a start date from November onwards.
