About IndianCare

IndianCare is a community-led not-for-profit supporting the health, wellbeing, safety, and social connection of the Indian diaspora in Victoria. We deliver culturally safe services and programs designed to empower individuals and strengthen community resilience.

As a recipient of the Play Our Way grant from the Department of Health, IndianCare operates women’s sports programs across five Victorian councils (Casey, Wyndham, Whittlesea, Melton, Brimbank), engaging 500+ women weekly across 25 locations in activities such as badminton, yoga, swimming, Zumba, and aqua aerobics.

To build on this impact, IndianCare is planning to organise the Desi Women Sports Fest 2026, around International Women’s Day 2026, a flagship event celebrating Indian women and girls through sport, culture, and wellbeing.

About the Role

As an intern, you will work closely with Community Development Officers and collaborate with multiple IndianCare teams to support the planning, promotion, and delivery of the Desi Women Sports Fest 2026. This role offers hands-on experience in event management, community engagement, sponsorship, marketing, and event coordination & delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in identifying, engaging, and supporting sponsorship leads
  • Assist with proactive outreach to businesses, community groups, and potential partners to promote our sponsorship offerings
  • Set up promotional stalls and activations at community hubs (temples, gurdwaras, supermarkets, libraries, local events, WhatsApp groups, etc.)
  • Drive participant registrations through on-ground engagement and social media promotion
  • Respond to participant queries
  • Support the creation of event materials, documents, and promotional content
  • Provide administrative support across project tasks
  • Coordinate logistics, equipment, scheduling and participant flow on event day
  • Work with referees, volunteers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure smooth delivery
  • Maintain attendance records, trackers, and assist with basic reporting
  • Contribute to post-event reports and wrap-up tasks

Requirements

  • Currently studying sports management, event management, marketing, media or a related field
  • Strong understanding of sports event management
  • Prior experience supporting events (university, community, or professional)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organised, reliable, and proactive
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Interest or prior experience of working in community development initiatives
