This role is a part-time opportunity that will work afterhours within schedules to suit the nature of VFLW football and will commence in time for the start of pre-season, January 2026.

About the Role:
Reporting directly to the GM of Box Hill Hawks, this role is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of the VFLW training program. You will work collaboratively with football department staff to ensure athletes are supported through a holistic approach to performance and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and implement a comprehensive conditioning and preparation program for the VFLW squad (pre-season and in-season) across strength, rehabilitation, and running.
  • Conduct fitness testing and manage athlete load, including monitoring and reporting on training loads.
  • Oversee GPS data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Deliver strength and conditioning programs, including stretching, resistance training, and speed/agility drills.
  • Perform pre- and post-training evaluations.
  • Collect and maintain accurate statistical data for individual athletes.
  • Act as the key liaison between players and medical/physio staff to ensure optimal care and communication.
  • Develop tailored rehabilitation programs for players in conjunction with the medical team.

Through these responsibilities, you will create a holistic, adaptable program aligned with the club’s game plan, values, and performance objectives.

The ideal candidate: 

The VFLW High Performance Manager will be passionate about athlete development and committed to achieving team goals, supported by relevant tertiary qualifications. Ideally, you hold a degree in Human Movement or Exercise/Sport Science, or are currently undertaking postgraduate study in a related field.

You will bring proven experience as a Strength & Conditioning Coach within a sporting environment, preferably football, and possess a comprehensive understanding of athlete preparation across all areas of conditioning, including rehabilitation, strength, and physiology. Highly driven and detail-oriented, you will demonstrate exceptional time management skills and the ability to perform under pressure in a dynamic, high-demand environment.

Professionalism and confidentiality are essential, as is the ability to collaborate effectively and lead a multidisciplinary team. As a strong communicator, you can quickly build rapport, influence stakeholders, and foster a culture of performance excellence. You are prepared to work a wide array of hours with varying times and schedules to suit the nature of our industry.

This role will initially be based out of HFC HQ, Dingley Village (pre-season through to mid-April) and then from Box Hill City Oval, or another suitable environment.
