The Event Coordinator is responsible for the operation and administration of events and functions, facility hire, and to provide support to the Events Team. The role also ensures event operations are planned, coordinated and delivered in a timely, efficient and commercial manner and to the satisfaction of the hirer and patrons who attend.
Key Tasks
- Coordinate all aspects of functions, athletics competitions and minor event bookings leading into, during and post event day.
- Supervise staff and contractors on event days to ensure hirer’s requirements are met and positive working relationships with hirers, key stakeholders, suppliers and venue tenants are maintained.
- Operate and maintain the event booking management system for all venue bookings efficiently and effectively, providing appropriate booking related documentation to all stakeholders and producing booking related reports as required.
- Oversee public training operations, documentation and reconciliation.
- Provide quality and timely administrative and operational support to the Events team and other team members in the delivery of nominated events, as required.
- Monitor the venue’s event operations and liaise with other venue staff of Stadiums Queensland to ensure consistency and quality of the overall business approach, and that patrons and hirers have a quality experience.
- Understand and apply current legislation and governance arrangements pertaining to the operations and administration of a multi-purpose venue. Ensure all work is undertaken in accordance with SQ’s policies and procedures, particularly in the areas of workplace health and safety, security, equal employment opportunity, workplace harassment, bullying and discrimination
About You
- Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
- Experience in an event related role and/or multi-disciplinary venue or precinct
- High level communication and interpersonal, planning and organisational skills
- Ability to work within tight deadlines and to prioritise large volumes of tasks
- High level administrative skills and strong attention to detail
- Experience in utilising Microsoft Office including Outlook, and other standard computer applications and systems
- High work ethic, commitment to professional presentation, ethical practice and flexibility in the workplace
About the venue
QSAC is a training and competition hub for high performance and elite athletes, as well as a popular training facility for members of the public. Based in Nathan in Brisbane, it hosts numerous national and local athletics events and school sports carnivals. QSAC hosts football matches, concerts and major events.
It is the only venue of its type in Australia featuring two 10 lane 400 metre World Athletics accredited running tracks, a 48,500 seat Main Stadium and a 2,100 seat State Athletics Facility (SAF).
The precinct also includes Sandstorm, an eight-court beach volleyball complex as well as Nissan Arena (Queensland State Netball Centre), the training and competition base for the Queensland Firebirds and home to netball in Queensland.
QSAC is home to the Queensland Academy of Sport, a hub for high performance athlete training, development, recovery and research with access to international standard athletics facilities, including the National Throws Centre of Excellence.
