Employment type: Full time, Permanent
Hours per week: 38
Remuneration:
Band 6 salary from $104,133.36 per annum plus superannuation and a fortnightly RDO
Location: Werribee based with potential for a hybrid work arrangement 

About the role 

The Sport and Recreation Project Officer plays a key role in shaping the planning, development and delivery of Wyndham’s sport and recreation facilities. Working in-line with Council’s Project Management Framework and ensuring strong project governance, you will identify and assess future infrastructure needs, contribute to business case development, and support the securing of funding opportunities, including grants to deliver community outcomes. 

As a Project Owner Representative, you will manage a portfolio of sport and recreation projects and work closely with technical experts, including project managers, consultants and stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered to agreed scope, time and budget. You will be an active contributor to the Sport and Recreation team, supporting collaborative ways of working and the successful delivery of Council’s capital works and strategic objectives. 

What your day will look like 

  • Act as Council’s Project Owner representative, leading the planning, governance and oversight of sport and recreation capital works projects from concept through to completion. 
  • Undertake planning, feasibility and investigation work to inform business cases and funding submissions. 
  • Provide clear, evidence-based advice to support effective decision-making and problem-solving across projects. 
  • Monitor project delivery, ensuring alignment with Council plans, budgets and timelines. 
  • Engage and communicate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders, including community groups and funding bodies. 
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including minutes, registers, project documentation and grant acquittal records. 
  • Support community engagement activities, including preparation of communication materials and responses to public enquiries. 

What you will bring 

  • Degree or diploma course in Sport Management Recreation Planning, Community Development or an allied discipline 
  • Demonstrated experience in undertaking a Project Owner Representative role, including planning, managing and delivering sport and recreation projects, ideally within a complex or public sector environment. 
  • Strong understanding of business case development and grant funding processes. 
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports, correspondence and present to internal and external forums. 
  • Proven ability to engage, consult and influence a diverse range of stakeholders, including community groups. 
  • An outcome-focused approach with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and contribute positively to a high-performing team. 
  • A current Victorian Drivers Licence
