About UniSport

UniSport Australia (UniSport) is a member service organisation. We strive to promote and foster the importance of university sport as an integral part of university life at 43 member universities, who collectively represent more than one million students nationwide. Our primary focus is providing expertise and leadership in university sport. We aim to deliver and integrate national policy that enhances and facilitates opportunities for competitive participation in sport for students at a regional, national and international level.

About the Role

UniSport Australia is seeking a Digital Marketing Assistant Intern to join the 2026 Nationals Delivery Team from March/April to June (12 weeks). This internship, ideally based in our Brisbane office with potential for remote work, offers hands-on experience leading up to and during multiple National University Championships, including:

  • Nationals Athletics - 22-24 April 2026 - Gold Coast, QLD
  • Nationals 3x3 Basketball - 6-8 May 2026 - Canberra, ACT
  • Nationals Swimming - 15-17 May 2026 - Sydney, NSW

Please note: your presence at these events will depend on where you are based for the internship e.g., If you are Southeast QLD-based, you may attend Nationals Athletics on the Gold Coast, QLD.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and implementing marketing campaigns to increase participation in UniSport events.
  • Create and edit short-form photos and videos that capture the event experience and engage our audience.
  • Schedule and post content across social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
  • Monitor and respond to social media activity, including comments, direct messages, and posts.
  • Contribute creative campaign and content ideas that engage university students and the broader UniSport community.

Who we are looking for

Ideal for students studying sport management, marketing, or communications who are eager to gain hands-on digital marketing experience. We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience with, or is willing to learn, content creation and social media management (posting, scheduling, filming, editing).
  • Is confident and comfortable engaging with people on camera and in event settings.
  • Can generate creative ideas that connect with a university student audience.
  • Understands social media platforms and trends and can tailor content appropriately.
  • Has basic experience with Microsoft Office and/or video creation software (or is keen to learn).
  • Communicates effectively in an outgoing, approachable, and professional manner.
  • Is punctual, reliable, and can meet deadlines.
  • Works well in a team and contributes to shared goals.
  • Demonstrates strong organisational, problem-solving, and customer service skills.

Key Information

  • Duration: March/April to June 2026 (negotiable).
  • Time commitment: 1–2 days per week plus full-time availability during event delivery periods. Arrangements can be made to accommodate study commitments, exams, work, and holidays.
  • Training: Full induction and on-the-job training provided.
  • Equipment: Intern is responsible for the insurance and safety of personal computer equipment (if using personal items has been discussed).
  • Content rights: UniSport retains full ownership and usage rights of all content produced.
  • Event attendance: Full attendance may be required for Nationals University Championships, to be discussed.
