The Olympic Winter Institute of Australia (OWIA) has a proud tradition of supporting athletes in their sporting pursuits. Following Australia’s record breaking performance at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic Winter Games, including a milestone medal in Aerial Skiing, we are now turning our focus to the next quadrennial and the pathway toward the 2030 Olympic Winter Games in France. As we enter this next phase of high performance preparation, we are seeking a Lead Physical Preparation Coach who shares our commitment to sustained excellence and athlete success.
The Role
Full-Time Fixed-Term to 1 April 2030.
As OWIA’s Lead Physical Preparation Coach, you will play a pivotal role in delivering world-class physical preparation services that enable Australia’s elite winter athletes to perform at their best on the world stage.
Based in Brisbane, you will lead the physical preparation support for the Aerial Skiing program while also providing expertise to other winter sport athletes as required. You will be an integral part of an interdisciplinary high performance team, working closely with coaches and performance staff to optimise athlete readiness, recovery and long term athletic development.
In this lead role, you will work with OWIA and national physical preparation network providers to plan, coordinate and deliver cutting edge programs tailored to the unique demands of winter sport. Your leadership will help align physical preparation strategies across programs, ensuring best practice standards, consistency and exceptional service delivery.

About you
This role is suited to a highly motivated and experienced high performance professional with deep expertise in strength and conditioning and a proven track record of working with elite athletes. As the Lead Physical Preparation Coach, you will bring leadership capability, exceptional planning and coordination skills, and the confidence to influence and guide others.
To be successful in this role, you will need to be an innovative and strategic thinker with the capability to design evidence based solutions that address complex performance challenges. Your effectiveness will rely heavily on your ability to collaborate, build strong relationships, and communicate with impact across a diverse range of stakeholders, including coaches and interdisciplinary service providers.
To excel in this role, you will have:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Exercise, Health, Sport Science or a related field, specialising in Physical Development (undergraduate degree essential; postgraduate qualifications highly regarded)
- ASCA Professional Level 2 accreditation
- At least 5 years’ experience delivering strength and conditioning services in a high performance environment
- Demonstrated experience in leading or managing a team is desirable
- Proven ability to plan, deliver and evaluate physical preparation
- Demonstrated experience contributing to, and influencing, an interdisciplinary performance team
- Highly developed interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to build and sustain effective working relationships
In addition, you will need:
- Australian working rights
- The ability to work on-site at the Sleeman Sports Complex, Chandler
- A valid Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain prior to commencement)
- A valid driver’s licence
- Flexibility to travel domestically and internationally to support athletes, programs and major events
