The vision of Hockey NSW is to dominate the One Active Hockey One League, create an elite sporting brand, and with this increase the visibility and profile of hockey in NSW and Australia.

The Head Coach will, with a Hockey NSW appointed Selection Panel, select, prepare, and manage the squads taking part in the 2026 One Active Hockey One League season.

To be considered for these roles, you will need to have:

• Extensive team coaching experience with a track record of success, backed by appropriate qualifications and experience.
• Outstanding technical and tactical hockey knowledge with the ability to articulate this knowledge to a diverse player group and put into action.
• Proven ability to develop a performance culture, setting and maintaining standards and driving consistent performance, focused on growing over the campaign both in mindset and technical capability.
• Ability to communicate effectively and build strong team culture understanding the unique needs of high-performance sport and individual player requirements.
• Passion to succeed and continuously improve with the ability to take accountability for performance on and off the field, as a playing and leadership group.
• Strong Focus on achievement.
• Excellent campaign planning and administration skills with attention to detail and an ability to identify both opportunities and development areas, on and off the field and as part of game day and the development of the wider squad.
• Experience planning, delivering and reflecting on high performance team environments in a coaching capacity and knowledge of both national and international trends.
• Embody and role model the NSW Hockey and Pride values and behaviours in everything that you do. Role model these behaviors and embed these in the programs culture. 
• Develop and maintain good working relationships with all Hockey NSW Stakeholder both internally and externally.

Commitments and Responsibilities:

• Plan, organise and attend all Squad/Team training sessions that are organized.
• Attend Home and Away matches throughout the One Active Hockey One League.
• Communicate effectively with Hockey NSW and its staff regarding the management and administration of the Pride Teams.
• Deliver all required requirements as part of your role, submitting your team line ups and other administration requirements to Hockey NSW by the due date.
• Attend to all media and communication requirements as directed by the HNSW Marketing and Communications department.

Selection Criteria:

• Hold a current Hockey Australia Level 2 Coaching Accreditation or higher, or in the process of attaining this accreditation.
• Hold a current full Driver’s Licence.
• This successful applicant will undergo screening in accordance with the Hockey NSW Member Protection Regulation prior to appointment, including Code of Conduct and Working with Children Check (WWCC).
• Previous experience coaching at a state field hockey Representative level or higher. 
• A coaching philosophy, ethics and attitude which reflects the core values of Hockey NSW, being Excellence, Inclusiveness, Innovation, Professionalism and Respect.
• Must abide by Hockey NSW and Hockey Australia policies and procedures, including Code of Conduct and National Integrity Framework.
• Have demonstrated and role modelled the vales and behaviours of Hockey NSW consistently.

One Active Hockey One League dates are to be confirmed but run from late October 2026 through to early December 2026. Provide a post campaign report to Hockey NSW CEO and Board no later than 2 weeks post the end of the campaign.
