We are now seeking an outstanding leader to take on the role of Executive General Manager (EGM) - a rare opportunity to lead a high-performance sporting organisation with deep heritage and bold ambitions for the future.

About the Role

Reporting to the SUFC Board, the Executive General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, strategy and performance of the Club.

This is a hands-on executive leadership role that blends high-performance sport, commercial growth, stakeholder engagement and operational excellence. You will act as the custodian of SUFC’s values, while driving innovation and ensuring the Club continues to compete at the highest level.

You will work closely with the Board, President and management team, and lead key functions across rugby operations, administration and commercial activities.

• Leadership & Strategy
  • Provide strong, visible and inspirational leadership across the Club
  • Develop and deliver a clear strategic vision for sustained success on and off the field
  • Build a high-performance, values-driven culture
• Commercial Growth & Brand
  • Identify and grow revenue opportunities and partnerships
  • Lead marketing and digital strategies to grow membership, engagement and brand presence
  • Strengthen relationships with sponsors and key stakeholders
• Governance & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Partner effectively with the Board and ensure strong governance practices
  • Represent SUFC across Rugby Australia, NSWRU and broader rugby networks
  • Build strategic relationships within the University of Sydney and Sydney Uni Sport
• Operations & People Leadership
  • Oversee day-to-day operations and ensure organisational effectiveness
  • Lead, develop and manage a high-performing team
  • Embed strong systems, policies and performance frameworks
• Financial Management
  • Drive financial sustainability, discipline and growth
  • Oversee budgets, reporting and long-term investment decisions
• Community & High Performance
  • Champion participation pathways and community engagement
  • Support elite rugby programs, ensuring strong recruitment and retention pathways
  • Play a visible leadership role at matches and Club events

 About You

You are a proven senior leader with the ability to operate across strategy, operations and stakeholder engagement.

You will bring:

• Demonstrated executive leadership experience (sport, not-for-profit or commercial sectors)
• Strong commercial acumen and experience driving revenue growth
• Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing capability
• A passion for sport and understanding of high-performance environments
• The ability to lead culture, inspire teams and deliver results
• Experience working with Boards and governance frameworks
