Description

The NSW Combined Independent Schools Sports Council (NSWCIS) is seeking an experienced and highly capable leader to serve as its next Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

NSWCIS provides high-quality school sport pathways for students across the independent sector and works closely with schools, associations, convenors, and state and national sporting bodies.

This key leadership role is responsible for the overall management, coordination, and strategic direction of NSWCIS sport. The CEO oversees operations, stakeholder engagement, major events, compliance, and the effective delivery of NSWCIS programs across primary and secondary sport.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the NSWCIS Board, the CEO is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the organisation, including: 

  • Provide executive leadership and day-to-day operational oversight of NSWCIS
  • Implementing the Board’s strategic priorities and contributing to strategic planning and advice 
  • Supporting and working closely with sport convenors to support championships, team selection, and pathway development
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships across the independent school sector and external, state and national sporting bodies 
  • Overseeing major events including Swimming, Cross Country, Athletics, Triathlon and the Awards Evening
  • Ensure compliance with NSWCIS policies, operational guidelines and child-safe requirements
  • Represent NSWCIS at PSSA, CHS, All Schools and other sector meetings as required
  • Lead the development and management of the annual budget in partnership with the Finance Manager.
  • Ensure responsible stewardship of financial resources, including monitoring expenditure and overseeing financial processes
  • Manage contracts, sponsorships and key supplier relationships
  • Lead and support the CIS team to foster a collaborative, professional culture
  • Support volunteer wellbeing and ensure safe, respectful working environments

About You

You will be an organised, collaborative and highly effective leader with experience in school sport, sports administration, or a related field. You will bring:

  • Strong operational and organisational management capability
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder relationship skills
  • Experience coordinating sporting events, programs or representative pathways
  • The ability to lead people, manage competing priorities and make sound, practical decisions 
  • A strong commitment to child safety, integrity and high professional standards
  • The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • A positive, solutions-focused approach and strong alignment with NSWCIS values
