Position Overview

Perry Lakes Hawks Basketball Association is seeking a creative, proactive and highly organised Marketing & Media Manager to lead the Association’s marketing, media, communications and content activity.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this role will help grow the Perry Lakes Hawks brand, increase community engagement, support sponsor and partner outcomes, promote game day attendance, and tell the stories of our players, coaches, members, volunteers and programs.

The role will initially be offered on a part-time basis of 20 hours per week, with flexibility required around key games, events and Association priorities. There is potential for the role to expand as the needs of the Association grow.

About the Role

The Marketing & Media Manager will work closely with the CEO, basketball department, coaches, commercial partners, volunteers and internal stakeholders to deliver engaging marketing and media activity across the Association.

The role will suit someone who enjoys both strategy and hands-on execution, from planning campaigns and creating content to managing social media, supporting sponsors and promoting major Association activities.

Key Responsibilities

Marketing, Communications and Brand

  • Support the development and delivery of the Association’s marketing and communications strategy.
  • Grow the Perry Lakes Hawks brand across the community, basketball sector and broader sporting landscape.
  • Maintain consistent branding, messaging and presentation across all communication channels.
  • Create marketing collateral for programs, events, competitions, sponsors and community initiatives.
  • Support campaigns that drive participation, engagement, game day attendance and commercial outcomes.

Digital, Social Media and Website

  • Manage the Association’s website and social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
  • Plan, create and schedule engaging content that celebrates players, teams, coaches, volunteers, sponsors and club achievements.
  • Manage social media messages, comments and community engagement where appropriate.
  • Maintain a content calendar across NBL1, WABL, domestic competitions, development programs, events and sponsor commitments.

Media and Content Creation

  • Identify and develop stories across the Association, including player profiles, team achievements, milestones and community initiatives.
  • Prepare media releases, news articles, match previews, match reports and key announcements.
  • Capture photo and video content at games, training sessions, events and sponsor activations.
  • Create graphics, short-form video, reels and other digital content.
  • Maintain an organised image and video library.
  • Build relationships with local media and relevant basketball stakeholders.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in marketing, media, communications, public relations, digital content, journalism or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong storytelling, copywriting and content creation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing social media channels and digital content.
  • Photography and videography skills, including short-form video creation.
  • Experience using tools such as Meta Business Suite, Mailchimp, Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • A genuine passion for sport, community and ideally basketball.
