South East Melbourne Phoenix are a professional basketball team and proud member of the National Basketball League (NBL). Now in our seventh year we are continuing to grow our performance, community and commercial footprint across Australia.

About the role
Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the Commercial Partnerships & Events Executive plays a critical role in delivering outstanding outcomes for our sponsors, partners, and corporate guests.
This is a dynamic, hands-on role responsible for bringing partnerships to life and delivering premium match-day and non-match day events. You’ll ensure all sponsorship commitments are executed to a high standard while creating memorable experiences that strengthen relationships and drive commercial value.
Key responsibilities include:
Partnership Fulfilment & Activation
- Deliver all contractual sponsorship benefits and entitlements to a high standard
- Develop and execute partner activation plans across game day, digital and content platforms
- Coordinate branding, signage, hospitality and promotional deliverables
- Monitor fulfilment and maintain accurate records and reporting
- Support partnership renewals through insights, reporting and performance summaries
Relationship Management
- Act as a key day-to-day contact for commercial partners
- Build strong, trusted relationships through proactive communication
- Identify opportunities to enhance partner value and satisfaction
- Support retention and growth of partnership revenue
Events & Hospitality
- Lead the planning and delivery of match-day corporate hospitality experiences
- Coordinate sponsor activations and premium in-game experiences
- Deliver partner events, functions, Phoenix Business Network and club events
- Manage end-to-end event logistics including suppliers, run sheets and communications
- Ensure seamless delivery and premium guest experiences at every touchpoint
Operations & Administration
- Maintain CRM systems, partnership records and event documentation
- Track sponsorship inventory and fulfilment schedules
- Support commercial reporting, invoicing and internal processes
- Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, content, basketball and operations teams
Please note this role includes match day support at all home games, with evening and weekend work required during the NBL season.
The ideal candidate
You are a highly organised, relationship-driven operator who thrives in a fast-paced sporting or events environment. You bring exceptional attention to detail and take pride in delivering high-quality outcomes for partners and stakeholders.
You communicate confidently, build strong relationships, and bring a proactive, solutions-focused mindset. You’re equally comfortable managing multiple priorities as you are delivering premium experiences face-to-face.
With experience in sponsorship, account management, events or client services, you understand what great looks like and be able consistently deliver it. You’re adaptable, resilient under pressure and take ownership of your work.
You’re also passionate about sport, entertainment and live events, and excited by the opportunity to contribute to the Club and culture.
