Description

What is Run Victoria?

Run Victoria is a specialist platform of Athletics Victoria, built for the 1.07 million adult Victorians who run, or want to. We provide a platform for every kind of runner, from the PB-motivated, to the casual jogger ticking off fitness goals, or the run club regular who lives for Saturday mornings and the coffee that follows. We offer the following:

  • Individual membership - incorporates individual insurance, event discounts, and a digital platform with training tips, partner discounts and more, across an expanding suite of benefits.
  • Run club membership - insurance, club management tools and ongoing support to help run club leaders foster a thriving club.
  • Event affiliation - Run Victoria cultivates purposeful relationships with key partners the likes of the Ballarat Marathon, Connor’s Run, Two Bays Trail Run and upward of 130 other affiliated third-party running events, providing events with planning assistance, promotion, and ongoing support.

The brand is new but comes with an established community of 45 affiliated Run Clubs encompassing more than 6,000 Run Club members, with numbers growing year-on-year. This is an opportunity to be the first person to shape how Run Victoria shows up in the community, and to build something that genuinely matters to runners.

The Role

We’re looking for someone to be the creative engine of Run Victoria. You'll be across everything from concept to capture, to caption to channel, and you'll do it with the freedom and ownership to make it your own. As Run Victoria builds out its team, this role has the potential to grow with it.

Above all else, Run Victoria seeks someone who is:

  1. Passionate about running - Someone who runs regularly, is involved in the local scene, and genuinely cares about the community around the sport.
  2. Ambitious and entrepreneurial - Someone who seeks to innovate, thinks outside the square and is hungry to grow the sport, both in terms of members and revenue.
  3. Autonomous and self-driven = Someone comfortable with being the tactical lead within the organisation.

What you’ll do

Content creation & capture

  • Get out on the road, track and trails with your camera and shoot the real world of Victorian running - motion, community, grit, and the quiet moments in between.
  • Film and photograph run clubs, events and runners across metro Melbourne and occasionally regional Victoria.
  • Produce short-form video content for Instagram Reels, TikTok and YouTube (and any others you think necessary) - from concept through to final edit.
  • Create static content (photography, graphics) that lives and breathes the Run Victoria brand.
  • Develop creative assets for paid social media advertising across platforms.

Channels & community

  • Own the day-to-day management of Run Victoria's social channels - scheduling, posting, and showing up in the comments.
  • Build genuine relationships with Melbourne's run clubs, crews and running community on the ground and online.
  • Identify and engage with the runners, creators, and communities we should be in conversation with.

Written content

  • Write copy for captions, blog posts, run route guides, event previews and email.
  • Develop editorial content for the Run Victoria content hub: training tips, club features, runner stories, gear guides and race day coverage.

Creative direction & ideas

  • Bring ideas to the table constantly - content series, campaign concepts, partnerships, formats we haven't tried yet.
  • Help shape the Run Victoria visual identity in practice: how the brand looks, feels, and speaks across every touchpoint.
  • Stay close to what's working in running culture, social media, and content - and bring it back to the team.

Who you are

  • Recently graduated with a degree in marketing, communications, media, design, or a related creative field.
  • Confident behind a camera, with the ability to attend run clubs and events independently and capture content that brings the experience to life.
  • A strong visual storyteller. You have an instinct for composition, light and movement, and you know how to edit footage and photos that feel real rather than produced.
  • A confident writer. Captions, blog posts, run guides.
  • Self-directed and entrepreneurial. At the same time, you’re comfortable asking for assistance when you need it.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity. This is a brand in its early stages - things will change, priorities will shift, and some things won't work. You'll thrive on that rather than be unsettled by it.
  • Connected to the audience. You know Melbourne's running community. You've been to events, you follow the crews on Instagram, you have opinions about shoe drops.

What you’ll bring

Essential

  • A portfolio or body of work - social content, photography, video, writing. Show us what you've made.
  • Full Victorian driver's licence - you'll be travelling across Melbourne and occasionally beyond.
  • A Working With Children’s Check.
  • Availability to work early mornings, occasional weekends, and event days. We offer a Time off in Lieu structure and flexible working arrangements.
  • A genuine passion for running and an existing connection to the Victorian running community.

Advantageous

  • Experience with Meta Ads Manager or TikTok Ads for paid social creative.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent (Premiere, Lightroom, Photoshop).
  • Experience running or contributing to a social media account with a genuine following.
  • Any experience in a start-up, small team, or self-directed creative environment.

What we offer

  • A role with genuine creative ownership from day one, and the opportunity to be the founding voice of a brand that has the potential to reach every runner in Victoria.
  • A clear pathway to grow as the Run Victoria team grows.
  • A competitive salary commensurate with experience.
  • A base at the organisation’s head office at Lakeside Stadium, Melbourne along with flexible working arrangements.
  • A professional development budget.
