About Us
Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) is the umbrella organisation for national football associations across Oceania, working to develop and promote football throughout the Pacific.
We are committed to growing the game at every level and using football to create positive opportunities for our Member Associations and communities across the region.
We are looking for an experienced and highly organised Competitions and Events Manager to join our Competitions team and play a key role in the planning and delivery of OFC's international competitions and events.
If you thrive on bringing complex events together, building strong stakeholder relationships and delivering outstanding sporting experiences, this is an opportunity to take your experience onto the international stage.
About The Role
Reporting to the Head of Competitions, you will be responsible for planning, organising and delivering assigned OFC international competitions and associated events to the required standards. You will also contribute to developing capability across our Member Associations in competition management, event management and match-day operations.
This is a varied, hands-on role that will see you involved from the early planning stages through to delivery and post-event evaluation.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Plan and manage assigned OFC competitions and events from pre-delivery through to completion.
- Coordinate host bid processes, evaluations and selection.
- Work closely with host locations and Member Associations to plan and prepare competitions.
- Manage competition logistics, administration, procurement and equipment requirements.
- Manage competition expenditure within approved budgets.
- Oversee event management, match and competition operations in host locations.
- Develop and implement competition formats and match schedules.
- Manage team entries, player registrations and matches through OFC's Competition Management System.
- Ensure competitions comply with OFC regulations and relevant risk, health and safety and regulatory frameworks.
- Prepare official competition documentation and process international match approval applications.
- Conduct post-event evaluations and identify opportunities to continually improve OFC's competition and event delivery.
- Contribute to OFC's competition strategy, operational planning, budgets and international competition calendars.
- Develop training programmes and content to build capability within OFC's Member Associations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with FIFA, Member Associations, clubs and other key stakeholders.
The scope extends beyond event delivery into competition management, strategy, education and stakeholder management, making this a broad role for someone who wants to influence how international football competitions are delivered across the region.
About You
You will be an experienced competitions, events or sports professional who knows what it takes to successfully deliver complex events involving multiple stakeholders.
Highly organised and solutions-focused, you will be comfortable managing competing priorities and making decisions in fast-moving environments. Just as importantly, you will be an excellent relationship builder who can work effectively across different countries, organisations and cultures.
Ideally, you will bring:
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
- At least 5 years' relevant experience, preferably within sport.
- A proven track record of successfully managing international events and projects.
- Strong event, project and competition management capability.
- Experience managing budgets, logistics and operational requirements.
- Excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills.
- The ability to navigate complex environments and work confidently with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Sound judgement, initiative and problem-solving capability.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience working with databases or associated systems.
Knowledge of FIFA and OFC structures and regulations would be valuable, as would experience within not-for-profit organisations. An understanding of the Oceania region, its people and cultures is also desirable.
French language skills would be an advantage but are not essential.
Life in the Role
International competitions do not always happen Monday to Friday, 9 to 5.
This role requires the flexibility to work irregular hours, including weekends, and undertake international travel as competitions and events require.
You will need a current passport and the ability to travel throughout the Oceania region. OFC is also open to considering applications from candidates based internationally.
