We are seeking an experienced volunteer Head Coach to lead our NBL1 Senior Women’s Basketball program in the Australian NBL1 East. The successful candidate will play a critical role in building a championship calibre team that consistently competes for and wins NBL1 East titles. Through a culture of care, accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement, deliver performance outcomes on and off the court, and create a pathway that inspires the Canberra Basketball community. Success will be measured not only by winning championships but by fostering a team environment that reflects resilience, discipline, community connection and pride in representing Canberra at the highest level.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the preparation, planning, and execution of training sessions, game strategies, and season development.
Collaborate with the club’s management, support staff, and athletes to create a positive, caring, and high-performance culture.
Mentor and develop players, focusing on both individual improvement and team dynamics.
Work across our coaching network of senior programs in the performance pathway.
Represent the team and club in all NBL1 competitions, working within league regulations and guidelines.
Engage with the wider basketball community, including player pathways from junior to senior levels.
Key Requirements:
Proven coaching experience at an elite level, ideally within NBL1 or higher leagues.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to inspire and manage the team effectively.
A track record of developing talent and delivering strong performance outcomes.
In-depth understanding of basketball tactics, player development, and game management.
A commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team culture.
