SurfEdge Sports Physiotherapy is a growing independent clinic in Maroochydore focused on sports and load-related injuries, running injuries, bone stress injuries, tendinopathy, adolescent athletes, post-operative rehabilitation and return to sport.
We've recently expanded into a purpose-built rehabilitation facility, giving us the space and equipment to take patients from initial assessment through progressive rehabilitation, strength and conditioning and return to performance.
We're looking for a physiotherapist who wants to develop a strong sports and musculoskeletal caseload, think critically and become an established part of the Sunshine Coast sporting community.
We like clinicians who think
Clinical reasoning is central to how we work.
We enjoy working through challenging presentations, developing and testing hypotheses, reassessing and adapting when the clinical picture doesn't fit. We want clinicians who are curious about why someone isn't progressing and are prepared to change direction rather than simply follow a treatment template.
Just as importantly, we value communication. Patients should understand what you've found, what you're working on and where their rehabilitation is heading.
You'll have regular mentoring and the opportunity to discuss cases, develop your reasoning and continue building your skills in sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapy.
The work
You'll work predominantly with active and sporting populations across:
-
Sports and running-related injuries
-
Bone stress injuries
-
Tendinopathy
-
Adolescent sporting injuries
-
Post-operative rehabilitation
-
Strength and conditioning
-
Objective testing
-
Return-to-sport rehabilitation
Our rehabilitation facility includes a dedicated gym, commercial cardio and gait-analysis equipment, strength equipment and VALD testing technology, allowing rehabilitation to progress well beyond the treatment room.
We also deliver ONERO® for osteoporosis and osteopenia, with opportunities to become involved in this area if it interests you.
Build a caseload around the work you want to do
We want this role to give you the opportunity to develop your own professional identity and become known for the areas of physiotherapy that interest you.
You'll be encouraged and supported to build relationships with GPs, specialists, coaches, gyms and sporting organisations, communicate with referrers and connect with the sporting populations you want to work with.
There are also opportunities for sports and event coverage, professional networking and creating educational content around your clinical interests.
We're looking for someone with initiative who wants to take ownership of their caseload and play an active role in growing it.
You might be a great fit if you:
-
Love sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapy
-
Enjoy clinical reasoning and problem-solving
-
Have strong assessment and communication skills
-
Enjoy progressive loading and gym-based rehabilitation
-
Reassess and adapt rather than treating from a template
-
Take ownership of your patients and their progress
-
Want to take patients beyond pain relief and back to performance
-
Are proactive about developing your caseload and professional network
-
Are curious, coachable and open to feedback
We're open to experienced clinicians as well as early-career physiotherapists with strong foundations, initiative and a genuine drive to develop in sports rehabilitation. You don't need to know everything on day one, but you do need to want to learn.
The role can be full-time or substantial part-time and includes:
-
Competitive remuneration + super
-
Performance-based bonuses
-
Professional development allowance
-
Regular mentoring and case discussion
-
Reception and administrative support
-
Opportunities for sports and event involvement
-
The opportunity to develop your own areas of clinical interest within the clinic
