You're already a great coach. Now become a great EP.
We're not looking for an Exercise Physiologist starting from zero.
We're looking for someone who has already put in the hours on the gym floor. You've coached hundreds of sessions, you can read a room, and you can program for real people. You've now got the clinical knowledge from your EP degree, and you're ready to bring the two together.
If that's you, keep reading.
The Role
You'll start with up to 10 semi-private sessions per week. Alongside these, you'll build your Exercise Physiology caseload.
Semi-private training (4:1) is the cornerstone of Arena. Our EP clients move into these sessions once their 1:1 work is done, so you get to see them keep progressing long after rehab finishes. It is not a filler shift. It's where the client journey continues, and you'll coach it to the same standard as your 1:1 work.
On any given day you could be:
- Taking a post-op knee replacement through their early rehab
- Returning an athlete from injury to full performance
- Coaching four people through individualised programs in the same hour
- Running S&C with a sports team
Sports team S&C work is available in this role. We want an EP who can move across formats and bring the right energy to each one. The calm, detailed practitioner in a 1:1 rehab session and the person driving intensity with a team on a Tuesday night are both you.
Where It Goes
The aim is a full-time EP caseload. As your caseload grows, your semi-private load reduces, and once you're full time the role changes with it. How quickly that happens depends on you.
How You'll Work
You'll run as a sole trader, with real autonomy over your schedule. You'll also work to Arena standards, inside a team of EPs, physiotherapists and exercise scientists who are all working toward the same goals.
Your week includes:
- Fortnightly Rehabilitation Team meeting
- Fortnightly Performance Team meeting
- Fortnightly All Team meeting
- Fortnightly 1:1 mentorship
- Ongoing professional development
We invest in you because we expect you to get better. Every week.
Who You Are
- A strong PT or coach before you were an EP, with the experience to prove it
- Confident in what you can do, and humble enough to know you still have a long way to go
- Someone who wants feedback and does something with it
- Just as comfortable with a 70-year-old post-surgery as a 20-year-old athlete
- Proud of how you show up, every session, every format
Who This Isn't For
- EPs who want to sit in a clinic and only do 1:1
- Anyone who sees group or semi-private coaching as beneath their qualification
Earning
- EP sessions: percentage split, so your income grows with your caseload
- Semi-private and other coaching: sessional rate
- Bringing your own clients: higher percentage split
Requirements
- Degree in Exercise Physiology (ESSA accredited or eligible)
- Solid personal training or group coaching experience
- Strong programming and client management skills
- First Aid & CPR
- Working With Children Check
