A rare opportunity to grow the brand and audience of Australian athletics through its biggest decade yet.
Australian Athletics (AA) is the national governing body for the sport, responsible for everything from grassroots participation to our Olympic and Paralympic high-performance program. As we build towards LA 2028 and Brisbane 2032, we're looking for a Head of Brand, Communications & Audience Growth to lead our marketing, media, digital and corporate affairs functions, and shape how Australia sees and engages with athletics for years to come.
You'll own brand and campaigns, drive proactive media coverage, lead broadcast coordination for major events, grow ticket sales, digital revenue and audiences across every channel, and run our corporate affairs function, all while building and leading a high-performing team. If you like working across disciplines rather than staying in one lane, this is built for you.
Your core duties will include:
- Own and evolve the Australian Athletics brand, ensuring consistent identity, positioning and tone across all channels and touchpoints.
- Driving proactive media coverage across sports, mainstream, broadcast, and digital outlets.
- Leading broadcast coordination and media production for AA events, working together with our Sport Delivery team.
- Running event communications strategy to drive ticket sales, awareness and attendance.
- Leading corporate affairs and reputation strategy, positioning AA as a trusted, high-performing National Sporting Organisation.
- Partnering with the Head of Partnerships & Strategic Growth to make marketing work harder for our commercial portfolio.
- Lead the development and execution of audience growth strategies across all platforms and channels, with a focus on expanding Australian Athletics' fan base, reaching new audiences, deepening community engagement and increasing the reach of the sport.
- Leading, mentoring and growing our Marketing, Media and Communications team.
Ideally, you will have:
- A degree in marketing, communications, public relations, business or a related field, or equivalent or professional experience.
- Ability to operate with initiative, self-direction and proactivity - identifying opportunities, solving problems and driving work forward without needing to be directed.
- Proven experience in a senior marketing, media or corporate affairs role, ideally within sport, entertainment, media or a complex stakeholder environment.
- Strong background in developing and executing multi-channel marketing and communications campaigns with measurable outcomes, including reaching new audiences and growing digital revenue.
- A keen commitment to clean sport and abiding by AA's National Integrity Framework suite of policies, the Australian National Anti-doping Policy and AA Code of Conduct.
- Hold and maintain a valid Working with Children Check and (or ability to hold) a National Police Check.
