About the Role

South Hobart FC is seeking an ambitious Head Coach to lead its NPL Senior Men’s program for the 2027 season. This is a standout opportunity in Tasmanian football, offering a strong platform to demonstrate your coaching quality at NPL level and build your profile across Australia.

South Hobart has won the NPL Tasmania title in 2025 and 2026, and the Lakoseljac Cup in 2025. The club has also represented Tasmania in the Australian Championship in consecutive seasons, most recently recording a win over Lions FC. This recent success provides a strong foundation for the incoming Head Coach to build on.

Based at the iconic D’Arcy Street ground, South Hobart is one of Tasmania’s largest and most prestigious football clubs. The Head Coach will lead the senior team’s preparation, performance and development, with the opportunity to shape its playing approach and contribute to the club’s continued success.

Additional paid coaching work may be available through the club’s academy. Any academy hours will be agreed separately with the successful candidate. Relocation assistance is available for discussion and may include financial contributions, accommodation support, and employment introductions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver the senior team’s training program.
  • Lead match preparation, team selection, match-day coaching and performance review.
  • Establish and maintain standards for training, competition and player conduct.
  • Support the development of players across the senior squad.
  • Work with the club’s football staff on squad planning, player retention and recruitment.
  • Communicate effectively with players, staff and club stakeholders.

Essential Requirements

  • Coaching experience, preferably in a high-performance football environment.
  • An AFC B Licence or equivalent qualification.
  • A clear approach to team organisation, player development and performance.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The ability to plan effectively and work collaboratively with players and staff.
  • Professionalism, sound judgement and a commitment to high standards.
  • Appropriate work rights in Australia.
  • A current Tasmanian Working with Vulnerable People registration, or eligibility to obtain one.

Why South Hobart FC?

This is an opportunity to lead a successful senior program with consecutive league titles and recent Australian Championship experience. The Head Coach will have responsibility for the team’s preparation, selection and performance, and the opportunity to make a clear impact through their coaching and leadership.

For an ambitious coach, South Hobart offers a compelling platform to demonstrate your ability, build a record of success at NPL level and strengthen your reputation within Australian football. The club’s standing in Tasmania and recent national competition experience gives this role particular appeal for coaches seeking to take the next step in their careers.

The successful candidate will be supported by an established coaching team, with an assistant coach, second assistant coach and goalkeeper coach already committed for 2027. This provides a strong foundation for collaboration, player development and continued success in domestic and national competitions.
